Sun Seed Community Podcast

There are homecoming and re-parenting practices that are happening within Black communities right now. Initiation rituals are deeply woven into our histories, and in this episode, we talk about what that can look like today and how it can aid in healing generational trauma, and in raising our inner child. This is a glimpse into a beautiful and emergent coalescence between me and my dear friend and creator of Birthing Body and Soul, Ashley Aitken.

How can we bring play and wonder back into our lives as adults? What narratives around worth, work, and self-discovery do you hope to pass down from your parents to your children? This conversation with, Sufey Chen, on intuitive parenting and the beautiful healing power of raising a little one is like a golden cup of joy. Sufey has inspired my own parenting style for years and I hope you leave this session ready to climb, hug, and howl.

What if the organizations and affinity groups(AGs) we create are living entities? This conversation with Indigenous and Two Spirit Water Protector, Big Wind, is a glimpse into constant internal and interpersonal questions on how to do repair work in our communities. When your organizing surrounds you with multifaceted individuals, their intersections, and their trauma it can be truly beautiful and also very painful. Having the “tough conversations” needs to be continuous and not an afterthought. So, let’s talk decolonizing repair work.

Whew chil' this was a hard episode to produce.

The stories of Blacks who have disassociated themselves from being a Jehovah's Witness are rarely publicized. In this episode Hood Witch, High Priestess and all-around badass, LadySpeech Sankofa and I talk about being raised in "the truth," leaving the faith, and how we found liberation in titties n' grace, the queer scene, and spirituality based in loving ourselves and our ancestors.

If you know of any QTBIPOC/BIPOC who are thinking of leaving the faith or have already done so please sit with them and show them that there is true and very real love on the outside. They are worthy and not a mistake or a sin. If you know of any safe resources for support please comment below.

CW This episode covers sexual acts; both wanted and unwanted.

Right now I do not have the energy to write the show notes. My people continue to lose their lives to whiteness. I will edit this soon, but I wanted to get the episode published. Thank you Corey for sharing space with me and SSC.

The process of stepping into our truth is a radical act of love and resistance to whiteness, patriarchy and heteronormative culture. It is not easy AND it is vital. We see you, we celebrate you and we invite you into this rainbow temple of an online event.

Sun Seed Community is currently looking to co-create and contract with artists, disruptors, advocates and others in the BIPOC/QTBIPOC community, and also seeking comrade investors and sponsors. There are always ways to support and dream with us.
