Prodcast #55: Hamish Montague Well, here we are, another week has passed, and another Prodcast has come to life. Although, this time, it's a little bit different. Typically, we chat with chefs, restaurateurs and those alike. But, this time around, we're taking an inside look at the Brisbane Markets with Hamish Montague, General Manager and Co-Owner of Montague.
Montague is one of the largest farming businesses in Australia that predominately grow apples, pears and stone fruit. The third-generation family business began 73 years ago when Hamish's grandfather Bill started the company at just 22 years of age! In the beginning, they had just a few apple trees, and now they collectively grow over 4.6 million! Throughout the Prodcast, it became evident that Montague set the standard for the entire industry with brilliant innovations like Controlled Atmosphere Storage.
There is so much that goes into growing fruit, and we are so damn fortunate to have such amazing farmers scattered across Aus. It's genuinely empowering to learn about the food that ends up in our homes and how it gets there. Tune into the Prodcast to learn more about how the business went from one success to the next, their challenges, goals, future outlook, and so much more. Enjoy!
