An exhilarating not to be missed Sunday Arts Magazine with special guest, Debra Batton, Circus Oz, ‘Smash It”.
In this episode David and Neil chat to Debra about her background and her journey to Circus Oz and to the staging of “Smash It”. Starting out as a gymnast from a young age, Debra progressed to University where she studied Physical Education. On realizing the course was not for her she migrated to the Dance Department at Rusden. She took up contemporary dancing but moved into Physical Theatre and Circus where she could use her strong physical abilities.
She joined Circus Oz and travelled the world with the circus during the nineties. On returning to Australia she joined a Sydney Company, Legs on the Wall, where she became the Artistic Director. Debra returned to Circus Oz in 2014 as Touring Show Director. She has also done her own performing.
She is performing in “Smash It” which will be running from 28th March until 21st April at the Fairfax, Arts Centre in Melbourne, as a part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
