A truly inspiring program where Sunday Arts Magazine welcomes special guest, Jill Orr, to the studio.

Jill Orr is a contemporary, visual artist based in Melbourne, whose work has been exhibited nationally and around the world.

In 1975 Jill attended the Melbourne College of Advanced Education where she completed a Higher Diploma of Secondary Art and Craft Teaching. She furthered her studies in 1994 when she received a Master of Arts in Fine Art at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. In 2006 she went to Monash University to study for a PhD in Art and Design.

Jill chats to David and Neil about her current exhibition “The Promised Land Refigured”. This exhibition is a reworking of her original project “The Promised Land” created in 2012. “The Promised Land” scans a world where crisis is real and life is fragile. “The Promised Land Refigured” builds on the original project with added insights and issues which have evolved since 2012. This project engages with climate change and the destruction it is causing.

“The Promised Land Refigured” is currently on display at the Linden New Art Gallery in St Kilda, Melbourne, as part of PHOTO 2024. The exhibition runs until 19th May.
