This week on Sunday Folk we chat with Sylvai Barnai again (this time in English). Sylvia's an American-Hungarian software engineer who was born in Arizona and to whom her Hungarian roots have always remained important to her.

Tonight we sat down with Dhimas Sugiarto, a film maker and Vortex Hunter from New York City who seeks spiritual sites and healing traditions around the world, particularly in his ancestral land of Indonesia.

He’s been coming in and out of Hungary for some years now, and we had a great chat about Hungarian spiritual traditions, how his life brought him to Hungary, and the faith he sees in its people.

Zoltán also boasts one of the longest tenures at Prezi, the renowned Hungarian tech company. He recently left the company after 6 years to start a new chapter at Facebook in London, where he will be a production engineer.

This week on Sunday Folk we sit down with Tom Bean, an American software engineer originaly from Iowa, who’s now working as a full-stack engineer at Prezi here in Budapest. Tom originally came to Hungary in 2016 to attend the Aquincum Instiute of Technology.

Today on Sunday Folk I'm here with Galen Englund, a humanitarian expert specializing in violent conflict and forced migration research. His work for various governmental and humanitarian clients has included designing multi-sector assessments for refugee assistance, geospatial conflict tracking platforms, and research into non-state armed groups and counter violent-extremism (CVE). Galen holds an MA in Public Policy from Central European University, an MA in Development & Public Policy from the Institute Barcelona d'Estudis Internacionals, and a BA in Global Studies from Arizona State University. Originally from Alaska, Galen is also a dear friend who has been coming in and out of Budapest over the last 8 years. He is in the class of foreigners from whom the life and fate of Hungary is very dear to their hearts.

Today we chat with the renowned poet and translator George Szirtes. George was born in Hungary in 1948, and emigrated to the UK at the age of 8. In the course of his career he has produced English translations of some of the hallmarks of Hungarian literature, including Imre Madách’s Tragedy of Man, Gyula Krúdy’s Adventure of Sinbad, many works by Sándor Márai, and perhaps most notably, several novels by the esteemed contemporary writer, László Krasznahoraki.
