Corpus Christi (Body and Blood of Christ) is a Eucharistic solemnity, or better, the solemn commemoration of the institution of that sacrament. It is, moreover, the Church's official act of homage and gratitude to Christ, who by instituting the Holy Eucharist gave to the Church her greatest treasure.

TRINITY SUNDAY | Sunday Mass Readings - June 12, 2022  (Year C)

The feast of the Most Holy Trinity may well be regarded as the Church's Te Deum of gratitude over all the blessings of the Christmas and Easter seasons; for this mystery is a synthesis of Christmas, Epiphany, Easter, Ascension and Pentecost. 

This feast, which falls on the first Sunday after Pentecost, should make us mindful that actually every Sunday is devoted to the honor of the Most Holy Trinity, that every Sunday is sanctified and consecrated to the triune God. The Father created and predestined us; on the first day of the week He began the work of creation. The Son redeemed us; Sunday is the "Day of the Lord," the day of His resurrection. The Holy Spirit sanctified us, made us His temple; on Sunday the Holy Spirit descended upon the infant Church. Sunday, therefore, is the day of the Most Holy Trinity.

ASCENSION SUNDAY | Sunday Mass Readings - May 29, 2022  (Year C)

"Men of Galilee, why gaze in wonder at the heavens? This Jesus whom you saw ascending into heaven will return as you saw him go, alleluia." - Acts 1:11

In the appointed time, the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. In His earthly life, Jesus became the face of the Father's love and mercy for sinful humanity. He was crucified, died and was buried, but death could not hold power over Him. After some time, He ascended triumphantly into heaven to sit on the Father's right hand and to share His glory.

This fills us with immense hope as we too look forward to our heavenly home back to our Father who created us as His own.

Love is man's first and constant vocation. It is the means to reveal God's heart to other men. Every deed of vital love, performed by us in our personality which nature and grace have fashioned, is like the morning of time itself. FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER | Sunday Mass Readings - May 8, 2022 (Year C)

"I am the good shepherd, says the Lord; I know my sheep and mine know me." - Jn. 10:14

Today, the Fourth Sunday of Easter, we also celebrate the Good Shepherd Sunday, which marks the 59th Anniversary of the World Day of Prayer for Vocations instituted by Pope Paul VI in 1964.

Christ Himself is the Good Shepherd and we are His sheepfold. He knows each one of us, nurtures us and cares for us like a mother her young. 

May the Lord continue to call more men and women in the priestly and consecrated life to become shepherds in the Church after His own heart.

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY | Sunday Mass Readings - April 24, 2022 (Year C)

"I shall sing forever the Lord's mercy." (Ps 89 [88]) 

This Sunday is popularly known as Mercy of God Sunday. Between 1930 and 1938 Christ appeared to Sister Faustina, a Sister of Mercy in Poland who initiated the Divine Mercy devotion. She was canonized on April 30, 2000, the Sunday after Easter, the Feast of Divine Mercy. On Good Friday, 1937, Jesus requested that Blessed Faustina make a special novena before the Feast of Mercy, from Good Friday through the following Saturday. Jesus also asked that a picture be painted according to the vision of Himself as the fountain of mercy. He gave her a chaplet to be recited and said that it was appropriate to pray the chaplet at three o'clock each afternoon (the Hour of Great Mercy).

EASTER SUNDAY OF THE LORD'S RESURRECTION | Sunday Mass Readings - April 17, 2022  

"This is the day which the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad!" - Ps 118:24

Easter is the feast of feasts, the unalloyed joy and gladness of all Christians.

Throughout the octave, we shall sing of the unequaled joy which throws open eternity to us. Every Sunday will furnish a reminder of it, and from Sunday to Sunday, from year to year, the Easters of this earth will lead us to that blessed day on which Christ has promised that He will come again with glory to take us with Him into the kingdom of His Father.

Let us banish all trace of sadness for Jesus' Resurrection has obtained Redemption for us - sin destroyed, death overcome, divine life brought back to us, the resurrection of our body promised with immortality.

Alleluia! Christ is Risen! Alleluia!
