  • Acts 2:42-47: Foundations of the Church

There exist some non-negotiables for the people of God including trusting Jesus Christ alone (which leads us to repentance) and committing to the mission to which he has called us.

In our passage today, Luke describes the power of the Holy Spirit to accomplish 1 Peter 2:9: “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”

  • Matthew 13:44-46: The Kingdom’s Surpassing Worth

In Matthew 13:44-46, Jesus tells us two similar parables about the surpassing worth of His Kingdom. The Kingdom of God is so valuable that there is no earthly sacrifice that could compare to the value of entering and obtaining it through faith in Jesus Christ. We must re-evaluate our whole lives in light of the Kingdom’s greatest value.

  • Philippians 4:18-23: God’s Provision

David provides assurance for every believer (Psalm 23:1, paraphrased): “Because the LORD is my shepherd, all my needs are met.” As we close our study of Philippians, Paul restates the promise like this: “My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (4:19).

Together as a church family, we are experiencing the Lord’s provision every day.  Come and join us!

  • Philippians 4:14-17: Generosity

The resources that we need to live and accomplish ministry are graciously supplied by God in Christ Jesus. There is no exception to this principle, but there is dependence. That is, the various needs we have are often supplied by fellow Christ-followers. Giving, then, is partnership in ministry.

In the Word today, we will see that money is a tool that God provides to each of us to teach us to love and worship him. In fact, loving God more than money is a key that unlocks the real treasure that your soul desperately desires. What we really want is God himself.

  • 1 Samuel 1:1-28: The God Who Hears

Happy Mother’s Day! On this day, we honor the God who instituted motherhood and designed it to be an important manifestation of His care and His love.

Some of us had amazing mothers who exercised wisdom and sacrificed greatly so that we could grow up safe and sound. Others may not have experienced that kind of childhood. Some enjoy the blessing of children. Others are still waiting to hold a baby in their arms. Some have experienced the devastating loss of a child.

Regardless of your experience with your mother or motherhood itself, we all have one thing in common: We live in a difficult world and are desperately in need of a loving savior, a God who cares deeply and who hears us when we cry out to Him.

  • Philippians 4:10-13: Contentment

Hebrews 13:5: “Be content with what you have, for he has said, ‘I will never leave you or forsake you.’”

As we learn from God’s Word, we will see that contentment does not come from lowering our expectations, but from raising them to Jesus.  Your circumstances may often leave you wanting, but Christ never will.

“I can do all things through him who strengthens me” (4:13).

  • Philippians 4:2-9: Peace

It’s easy to think that peace is a rare and dreamy interlude that exists for people in the easiest circumstances.  Ironically, when we think this, we tend to get bitter toward people that we think have it easier than we do, and also feel sorry for ourselves. The result? More conflict, both within our souls (internal) and with others (external).

Our passage today is for the anxious and the worriers (all of us). Paul teaches us all about real peace—how to cultivate it and keep it. Peace is not a brief season of easy circumstances; it’s a commanded way of thinking and living for every believer. The source? “the Lord is at hand” (5).

  • Matthew 28:1-10: Alive, Just as He Said

The only hope for forgiven sin and eternal life is the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.  In 1 Corinthians  15:3-7, Paul said it like this:

3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.

  • Matthew 21:1-11: Your King Has Come

The triumphant arrival of Jesus to Jerusalem—received by many as the promised Son of David—is told in all four gospels (Matthew 21:1-11, Mark 11:1-11, Luke 19:28-44, and John 12:12-19). The central point of the Gospels remains the central point of the church to this day: Jesus is the triumphant King! Receive him and really live!

  • Philippians 3:17-4:1: Stand Firm

In our generation, “deconversion” has become an identified trend among people who were brought up in the Christian church, or who once identified themselves as Christ-followers. In deconversion, people recant and often regret that they were identified with Christ.

In our passage today, Paul addresses deconversion and gives a specific and loving charge to genuine believers about what to do about it. Namely: stand firm!
