A part of the Beyond a Building Sermon Series

We continue our series “Beyond A Building” and look at how Jesus defines family in Matthew 12, Mark 3, and other passages. The sermon highlights fathers and family in the beginning and transition to helping us see our “first family” in the Family of God. We also honor our seniors and talk about how our church family has invested in them as their family.

Phil will begin a new series Sunday called Beyond a Building. Since the pandemic began, we have all had to explore what exactly the church is, when we can’t actually meet together as the church. The Bible gives us a great reservoir of teaching as to what the church is, and the good news is the images that scripture puts forth for the church don’t involve a building!

Phil gives our final lesson in the Surprising Jesus series. This lesson highlights the story of the woman who gave two coins at the temple. Phil talks about contentment in this lesson, and how we might cultivate a better relationship with our money and possessions, ultimately holding them loosely, and allowing our hearts to attach more firmly to God.

Phil continues our series Surprising Jesus by taking a look at the story of the friends who lowered a paralytic through a roof to see Jesus. Phil will point out that one of the impressive characteristics about these people is that they were bridge builders. They sought creative ways to bring people towards Jesus, not push them away.

We continue our online worship with Mark delivering the message this week. Can Jesus’ mother teach us anything about riding the roller coaster called life in these times? On Sunday, a few quick snap shots from Jesus’ relationship with Mary will offer us hope for the long haul.

Phil continues our Surprising Jesus series with a message about gratitude. He will explore the story of the ten lepers, only one of which came back to offer his thanks to Jesus. Phil will explain that this practice of expressed gratitude actually facilitated a spiritual renewal that the other nine did not receive.

Phil will continue our series Surprising Jesus. He will take a look at the parable of the pharisee and the tax collector. One is received, the other is rejected, and humility is the key.
