In order for the people of God to accomplish the purposes of God they must first humble themselves, confess their sin, and take hold of God’s divine resources by thankfully asking for His favor, provision, and power. The accomplishment of God’s purposes begins with humble prayer.

Those who fear God are quick to acknowledge their sin, not only the commission of sin, but also the true guilt that sin brings, and so they humbly cry out to God for His mercy and lovingkindness, apart from which they would surely perish. Humble, heartfelt confession must be our first response to sin.
