Before entering the ordination process, David worked as a university professor, a vocation in which he still occasionally dabbles. He earned his M.Div. from CDSP in Berkeley in 2018, and also holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Classics from UNC Chapel Hill, which is where he first became an Episcopalian. David was a classmate of Sarah Thomass in seminary.
