Jesus describes God as our Father in Heaven that desires to give us good things when we ask Him. However, if our hearts are not aligned with God we can have a skewed perspective of who God is and how those prayers are answered. Praying in submission, faith, patience, and obedience will aid us in aligning our heart to God’s heart when we ask for the good things God wishes to give us.

How do your prayers start? I know my prayers typically start with, “God, please…God please give me, do for me, do for someone, God please show up, be there, intervene, make this happen, heal this person…” These are honest prayers, but it causes to relate to God for the purpose of telling Him our needs. This won’t help us grow in our relationship with God. Jesus shows us how to honor God in our prayers.

Speaking with God through prayer allows the believer to communicate with the Almighty Creator of the universe and by doing so, we acknowledge His presence with us and our dependence on Him for everything in our life. If we’re honest, speaking with God, is a difficult practice to develop in our faith. But the truth is, speaking with God is as simple as having a chat with your best friend.

Faith is demonstrated in the presence of our doubt. Faith is how we trust God above our feelings, it’s a belief in God’s ability above my own. Therefore, if I’m going to receive God’s blessing for my life, I need to exercise my faith. In my doubt, the devil wants me to feel like less of a believer, but it is my doubt that presents me with the opportunity to have faith. To put my trust in God and His promises as I receive God’s blessing.

Inside you is the power to bless, do you truly understand what that means apart from blessing someone materially? Your words can either to tear someone down or build them up depending on how you use them. Think of the impact you could have on the people in your life if you chose to verbally bless others in your life.

We have more opportunities to live out and share our faith at our jobs than we realize. I think what really stands in the way are the perceived barriers we have built around our jobs. God is looking for disciples that are willing to count the cost of following Him and willing live out the Great Commission anywhere. That means looking at our jobs as a mission field that we can go and make disciples.

Our calling to go make disciples and teach people to follow Jesus starts in the home. We can’t neglect bringing the gospel to our families as we pray, serve, and love them! The Great Commission is not meant to be isolated to an invitation to church at Christmas and Easter, it’s meant to be a natural outpouring of how we live out our life. Each of us has been commissioned by Jesus to go and make disciples.
