Lord, thank You for moms in our church here, and the moms that aren’t here – they’ve sacrificed so much and would do it gladly again. The love in our hearts comes from You – and You are our great parent, who loves us more than any parent could. Open our hearts as we look at a familiar passage.

Lord, thank You for this opportunity – clear our hearts and minds – cleanse us by Your blood - we are Your children – no guilt/fear/shame – we are beloved by You. You accept us as we are. Teach us to be the people You would have us be. In Jesus’ Name.

Through Memorial Weekend, we will be going back to some of the parables in Luke – Today is Luke’s version of the Sermon on the Mount ...

In Luke, there are 4 encounters that specific individuals have on that first Easter. Three of these stories are found in other gospels – and are expanded. Luke is the only one that talks about the road to Emmaus. Luke takes a minimalist view, shortening the stories. We talked how Luke had all these sources to compile his account. Many scholars believe Luke probably had Mark and Matthew – and therefore, emphasized different things.
