  • Christmas Psalms – Part 2 – Peace
Advent is about waiting patiently and being hopeful waiting for the peace of Christ.  Psalms are a collection of ancient songs and prayers dedicated to worshipping God with hope and confidence.
    Christmas Psalms Peace:
In this sermon, our teaching Pastor Cyril Guerette discerned how Jesus is the Prince of Peace and will bring peace on earth to men/women… Jesus can give you inner peace and that will lead you to have outer peace in your professional and personal life.
Ultimately world peace will come when Jesus returns, in the meantime, we shouldn't be surprised when we hear about wars or rumors of wars until evil is finally defeated as is promised in the book of Revelation.
In Galatians 5 the fruits of the spirit, the spirit surpasses understanding and brings us peace.
Peace begins with each of us, If we are mad at someone and they came to apologize to us today would you forgive them?  We are called to be peacemakers as the body of Christ.
The Pastor challenges each one of us to consider if there is anyone we are fighting with, and how we can show them the supernatural peace of Jesus.
No matter where you are in life, Jesus Invites you to an eternal relationship with him today.  Would you like to learn more about this?

  • Christmas Psalms – Part 1 – Hope
Advent is about waiting patiently and being hopeful waiting for the presence of Christ.  Psalms are a collection of ancient songs dedicated to worshipping God with hope and confidence.
Psalm 27:  Sheppard kings singing songs alongside Angel's about the thankfulness of the king that was to come and we sing the same songs out of thanks for Jesus.
God is described as a stronghold for us and a light in the darkness so we don't need to fear.
    Hope in times of uncertainty:
Are you confident that God will bring us through times of uncertainty?
Do you know that our God will care for you?
Faith gives birth to confident hope in our lives.
Kind David made sure he spent time in the house of the Lord his cries to be in God's dwelling is an example of how this desire should be at the forefront of all our minds.
The physical temple of the Lord was always meant to be temporary which is why when we celebrate Christmas and call God Emmanuel (God with us) we are worshipping how God is always with us.
All of humanity cries out, in the same manner, King David would that seek God first.  Ultimately God is the only person who will never let us down or forsake us; family, friends, jobs, our health as unfathomable that may seem to you.
Psalm27:9-  Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper.  Do not reject me or forsake me, God my Savior.
Psalm27:14- Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
Colossians1:27- To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
How do we wait on the Lord?
-We must seek the Face (presence) of God.
-Be willing to journey long and far with expectation.  Hope comes from experience.
-Be in a community we are not meant to seek God alone, he wants us to do it in community.

  • State of the Union – Part 3 – Union with Christ
Dr. Cyril Guertte pastor of Groundswell Church speaks on being one with Christ and church followers what does it look like?  As we walk with christ this union becomes more normal through training of being in community with others.
Sometimes these moments are sporadic or fleeting which is evidence of God's gift of peace and joy that's not just available in heaven but now.
We need to clear space in our minds and hearts to not only receive the Holy Spirit but to continue to unwrap layers of christ through the process of sanctification.
There is a similarity between becoming one with Christ and oneness with your married spouse.  The union develops over time if you work on it just like a union with Christ.  Additionally, if it's not worked on and you can't die to yourself as Christ did for us both our marital and Christ union can collapse.
How can we hold on to the moments and memories we have of our time with God? Union how does it become easier?  We can write down, and capture moments we spend with God just like you would with your family.

  • State of the Union – Part 1
Dr. Cyril Guertte pastor of Groundswell Church speaks on how we see the person we were before choosing to follow Jesus and how we gradually put on the virtues through the process of Sanctification.  The prophet Ezekiel struggled for decades before his struggles were taken away.
Anything that God asks us to get rid of is for our benefit as It's damaging our health.  We need to destroy the parts of our lives that are tearing us down.  He wants us to recognize; purity, love, value, self-worth even food In a way that doesn't tear us down.
The Holy Spirit works on our hearts so we don't have to be a slave to our falsehood.  Great advice is shared; don't let the sun go down while you're angry, stop lying, don't put anything above God, and don't let anger fester.
God can use anything for his glory and lift us up.  These are a few ways to help manage anger and depression if you struggle with It!

  • The Farewell – Prayer for Protection (John 17:6-12)
    The Farewell – John 17:1-26
As Jesus prepared to face his most difficult moment, He gathered His friends and followers around to give them one final address.  Like a sports coach moving on to the next level, He poured His heart out before His team, charging them to do everything He taught them and praying for them to be able to do so.  The Farewell Discourse takes up a large chunk of the Gospel of John and is the longest prayer by Jesus we have in Scripture.  Join us as we see Jesus pray for Himself, His followers, and the world which He knew would be hostile towards them.  This is one final heartfelt speech we can’t afford to ignore!

  • Practicing Prayer – Power Prayer (Acts 4: 23-31)
    New Testament Prayers & Teaching
Prayer is not just something we say, it’s something we are.  Prayer is a way of life – a form of being – which actually accomplishes something. It is not just good intentions and fancy words, it is something we live and practice. We dig into concrete prayers spoken by people in the New Testament to discover how living in the realized presence of God affects our day to day lives and forms our character into that of Jesus. We discover a power in prayer that brings us into direct contact with the Father, shows Jesus to the world and allows the Holy Spirit to change us from the inside out. The hope is not just to listen to words about prayer during these nine weeks, but to encourage us all to dig deeper into the life of Christ and find ourselves practicing prayer more and more consistently.
