In Genesis 50 we see how Joseph continues to show mercy and forgiveness to his brothers. How was Joseph able to forgive his brothers of such betrayal? He let go of vengeance and worry and trusted that God reigned over all.

In Genesis 32 we see the account of Jacob wrestling with God. That encounter with God changed Jacob, he even left with a new name, Israel. What was it about that meeting that changed Jacob? He met a God who gives grace.

In Genesis we are shown a God who provides Abraham with a son. In chapter 22 we see the account of Abraham being asked to sacrifice his son. God stops him and gives us a reminder that He is the One who provides.

In Genesis 15 we see Abram believing God, it it being counted to him as righteousness. Believing that God will keep his promises is what Abram did - and it resulted in great blessings, but how do we develop faith like that?

Colossians 3 encourages believers to be compassionate and love others in the church. Before "putting on" that new nature we are told to first take off the old nature. What does this look like for each one of us?

In Hebrews 10:19-25 the writer exhorts Christians to draw near to God and to encourage one another. We are called as a community of believers to grow in our spiritual maturity, and we should encourage others in their growth.

The start of a new year can mean new resolutions and promises of change. Unfortunately, many times we find ourselves falling short of these goals and we wonder how we missed the mark so far. What if our focus was less on making ourselves change, and more on walking closer with God?

Romans 12:1-10 instructs us how to live in community and love those around us. Our love should be genuine towards each other.

Psalm 73 describes Asaph's disappointment that the wicked seemingly have no troubles while the Godly were struggling. Asaph soon recognizes that all is not as it seems, and there is something wonderful in finding contentment in the Lord's goodness.
