Emergency crews have been called to Chester Hill in Sydney's west following an explosion in the early hours. It happened shortly after one o'clock. Officers found a clandestine drug lab inside the property. A HAZMAT team is still on the scene with detectives.

The New South Wales government is set to introduce sweeping safety reforms to clamp down on knife crime. Police will be able to use detection wands in shopping centres and transport hubs, under reforms announced by the Premier modelled on Queensland's Jack's Laws. It comes less than 24 hours after a knife-wielding girl plunged a Central Coast shopping centre into lockdown.

Police have released security video of an e-scooter rider believed to be involved in a hit-and-run attack on a Melbourne grandmother. 80-year-old Jesse Hatch had to have stitches after she was struck from behind and knocked unconscious outside the MCG on the weekend.
