Melbourne and parts of Victoria have copped a drenching overnight as major thunderstorms lashed the State. The city received 47 millimetres of rain while strong winds caused trees to fall and crush cars. Lightning strikes also put a temporary halt to the MCG clash between Geelong and Hawthorn yesterday. And the Stawell Gift finals were delayed as the track turned into a pool after torrential rain.
