It's a real reading rainbow on this episode of the Sunshine Cinema Club, with three very different films all based on famous novels.

The theme of 'iron' gave us a chance to review three very different films which ended in a clear Gold, Silver and Bronze result... actually Bronze may be a bit too generous for one film this week, which deserved a medal made of Bismuth.

However, on a more positive note, one film does score a rare and much sought after Sunshine Rating of 10/10!

We start the reviews with the latest installment of comic book action in 'Iron Man 3' (14m10s). This weeks classic film choice is often overlooked, 'The Iron Giant' (32m53s), an animated tale with an interesting line up of voice actors. Our final review is new to DVD 'The Man With the Iron Fists' (39m47s) starring Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu.

The theme to this weeks 'Take 5' film quiz (25m35s) is 'films with chemical elements in the title'. Yes, it is as tricky as it sounds, as Ben demonstrates!

This week we look at three films which feature strong but troubled on-screen pairings.

We start with Ryan Gosling & Bradley Cooper in the oddly-named 'The Place Beyond the Pines' (9m 41s) Don't worry, we address that title!

We then meet Jack Walsh (Robert De Niro) and Jonathan "The Duke" Mardukas (Charles Grodin) in the classic film review of 'Midnight Run' (27m05s).

And we finish off with the widely praised 'Silver Linings Playbook' (37m 08s) starring Bradley Cooper & Jennifer Lawrence.

Brace yourselves for a bumpy ride on a journey through an alien invaded Earth (The Host- 12m23s), a dark secret on a planet light years away (Forbidden Planet- 26m42s) and an over-populated mega city (Dredd- 35m07s), three locations that wouldn't score highly on Tripadvisor!

The films on the other hand do score well, with one exception that struggled to keep us awake!

In honour of 'Robbie the Robot' from Forbidden Planet, this weeks 'Take 5' film quiz (21m41s) is a movie robots special, featuring questions on Star Wars, Terminator and Robocop!

The horror genre can really divide opinion as preconceptions can sometimes get in the way. However, the 3 films chosen on this episode really packed some surprises.

'Mama' (10m34s) had the biggest budget and the backing of Guillermo del Toro, but was that enough? The iconic 'Exorcist' (25m10s) was a first time thrill for two of us and 'Sinister' (34m24s) featured some contrasting performances but shocking highlights.

Oh, and this week we serve up a Sunshine Rating of 10/10 for only the second time!

Also, the competition between Nick & Ben hots up in this weeks 'Take 5' Horror film quiz (20m06s) as it goes to a tie-breaker!

It's an interesting theme this week, with 3 films that could really divide opinion. The star studded, big budget 'Cloud Atlas' (12m25s) certainly has a different effect on Nick and Ben, even resulting in the need for our BLEEP machine when Nick lets us know what he thinks of TIME Magazine's review.

The German classic 'Run Lola Run' (30m03s) is certainly less controversial, whereas 'Holy Motors' (36m51s) sparks some interesting comments/interpretations!

Howdy folks! This weeks show takes us on a political journey in the good ol' U.S. of A.

'Lincoln' (13m37s) is a shoe-in for some action at the Oscars, but Ben raises a rather unusual criticism which certainly flummoxed Nick.

The classic film review is the Oscar winner from 1939 'Mr. Smith Goes to Washington' (32m22s). And finally the political mood is lightened with Will Ferrell and Zach Galifinakis in the madcap comedy 'The Campaign' (40m06s).

With the theme of this weeks films being 'survival' we survive at sea with new cinema release 'Life of Pi' (14m26s), we survive on an island in the classic DVD 'Lord of the Flies' (28m07s) and we narrowly survive the threat of alien invasion in new DVD release 'The Watch' (36m50s). It turned out that we would have to survive sitting through 2 of this weeks films. However that's not say we didn't enjoy swooping down and picking them to pieces like a pair of ravenous vultures!
