Under his leadership as the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, the UJ faculty of engineering was ranked number one in Africa in Engineering and Technology according to the Times Higher Education (2017).

Prof Saurabh formerly served as Director of the Carl and Emily Fuchs Institute for Microelectronics at the University of Pretoria, where he graduated with a Ph.D. in electronic engineering. He has authored / co-authored over 100 journal articles and conference papers as well as three books, under his leadership.

He highlighted the importance of finishing what one starts and how that is a rare trait. Themba gave tips to having uncommon patience that enables one to overcome obstacles and persevere to the very end. He recommended three books and gave an awesome challenge!
