Show notes…

More Marc Spector and Steven Grant action!

It feels like Khonshu could be a hero or a villain, or is more complicated than we think. This could be a major issue in future episodes.

Layla isn’t in the comics. But, there is someone similar. Kind of?

Jarvis: “My thinking is that, because so much of Moon Knight is undefined, the MCU is taking some pretty heavy liberties.”

The “Mr. Knight” outfit in the series is different than the comics. I’m not sure how die-hard comic fans are going to feel about it.

Of all the different Marvel properties that Disney has made into live action, Moon Knight might be the least known for non-comic fans. And even comic fans might not know much. But, it is comic book accurate that Moon Knight has dissociative personality disorder and that he gained his powers from the Egyptian god, Khonsu. However, Steven Grant is rich in the comics. Marc Spector is a mercenary. And there are other personalities that we'll probably see later in the series.

In the comics, Marc / Steven's relationship with Khonsu is antagonistic, which we saw some of here.

There are comics and stories about Moon Knight, but they are not as developed as some of the other series we've seen. A lot of what we'll watch with Moon Knight will be new.

The villain, Arthur Harrow, is also in the comics, but he's barely anything to mention.

Marvel/Disney updated the MCU Timeline. Sort of.

There's a "secret" MCU character in Moon Knight episode 1? I guess.

Rotten Tomatoes gives Morbius a 17%, which is higher than Jarvis thought it would be.

Wanda Maximoff: is she a mutant? Not a mutant? What's her powers? It's all pretty weird, and gets weirder and weirder and weirder.

So does the history of the Vision. The MCU made him much less complicated, which is both good and bad.

Agatha Harkness is, well, a witch. In the comics, she trained Wanda (sort of):

You know what SHIELD is. But do you know what SWORD is? Probably not, but maybe. They were designed to deal with extraterrestrial threats, which is why it's weird that they are deal with a domestic issue:

No lie, Monica Rambeau is my favorite character and they are doing a great job with her.

Batman is a super old character. And he used to kill people.

What makes Batman such a good character, and great for a movie like Lego Batman, is his villains. And there are a lot of them. A. Lot.

March Harriet is absolutely a real villain from DC comics. She later became March Hare as part of the Wonderland Gang. Seriously.

Condiment King is actually a real villain from DC comics that got his start in the DC Animated Universe. His weapons are ketchup, mustard, and hot sauce or relish depending on the situation. It can cause some nasty stains.

Did you like the Batman vehicles? Because there are a lot of them, too.

The Scuttler is the coolest Batman vehicle of all time since it can quickly transform into a Batwing in the movie.

Jay says Blade Trinity is absolutely terrible and Rotten Tomatoes agrees with him.

Dracula is in this movie, but because of copyright issues, they can't speak the word "Dracula." It's silly and hurts the movie pretty bad.

Hannibal King is from the comics! He was turned into a vampire by Deacon Frost from the first Blade movie.

Abigail Whistler is not from the comics.

And, yeah, the Nightstalkers are from the comics. Rachel van Helsing is a member of the Nightstalkers and who Jessica Biel was originally cast to play.

Patton Oswald is in this and he said the production was absolutely terrible.

The Blade character has a long history in the Marvel universe, but wasn't popular until the movie dropped in 1998.

Deacon Frost is in the comics, and pretty close to how he was in the movie.

Whistler is not from the main 616 universe. But, fun fact! The Blade movies exist in their own universe! (26320)

Whistler is based on a character named Jamal Afari.

David S Goyer wrote the story for this and a ton, a ton of other comic movies. Most people don't know how much he's had his hand in comic movies. But, once you get a sense of his style, you can see it. And, it's not always great. Blade 1 and 2, I believe, are his best work. He also directed Blade Trilogy and Jay thinks it was absolutely terrible.

Stephen Norrington directed Blade and it's a miracle that it was good. (he's not a great director) Blade II was directed by Guillermo Del Toro and you can see the difference in style, design and fight scenes. Jay says that Blade II is the rare sequel that is better than the original.

We don't know much about the new Blade movie that they are making. It starts filming this July and Mahershala Ali is the lead role, but that's it. We know he spoke in the post credits scene for Eternals. Big questions: Will it be PG 13 or rated R?  The current Marvel movies haven't done anything "dark" yet, but there is plenty of material for them to pull from.

Cool Blade facts!

It’s weird exactly who is and isn’t worthy to lift Mjolnir. In the comics, Captain America can and has lifted it.

In the movie, the Avengers did not time travel. They travelled to different timelines (multiverses). The multiverse is much better fleshed out now than when Endgame came out. In the comics, time travel is far easier and messier. There’s just a lot going on with Time Travel/Multiple universes in this movie.

Smart Hulk (Technically Professor Hulk and Jay’s personal favorite Hulk)

The ending of the Infinity Saga is nothing how it was in the comics. It’s completely different. The only thing that is even remotely close is Captain America’s last stand.
