The Marvels" movie will lead the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) into "Avengers: Secret Wars" and introduce the next-level villain for Phase 7 and beyond. The MCU is preparing for two crossover events with "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty" and "Avengers: Secret Wars."
"The Multiverse Saga" is bringing new characters and events to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) while also continuing established heroes' stories. "The Marvels" will unite three female superheroes and could introduce a major villain for Phase 7, Annihilus, through the use of Kamala's bangle and the Negative Zone. The plot will follow events from the TV series "Ms. Marvel" and involve the swapping of powers between Carol, Kamala, and Monica.
According to a theory, Kamala Khan from "The Marvels" may not have simply swapped places with Carol Danvers, but instead was sent to the dangerous Negative Zone through the use of her bangle. In this universe, time passes faster, and evolution is difficult, making it perilous for Kamala. Captain Marvel and Monica Rambeau may need to rescue her and may learn more about her mutant genes in the process.
Kamala Khan's bangle in Ms. Marvel is the MCU's version of the Nega Bands, powerful relics from the Kree Empire that can grant the wearer powers and create chaos. The Marvels could be swapping places with Kamala in the Negative Zone, similar to what happened with Rick Jones and Captain Mar-Vell in the comics. This could lead to the emergence of Annihilus as a villain. The Marvels traveling to the Negative Zone could also reveal more about Kamala's mutant genes.
The Negative Zone, where Kamala might be trapped in the MCU, could pave the way for the introduction of Annihilus, a powerful interdimensional insectoid villain who controls the inhabitants of the Negative Zone with his Cosmic Control Rod. Annihilus is on a mission to destroy anything that threatens his existence, and he has tried to conquer and destroy all planets near his volcanic planet Arthros. In the comics, he has been stopped by the Fantastic Four and the Avengers, and he could use Kamala's bangle to create a breach into the positive matter universe in the MCU.
Annihilus could be the next big villain of MCU Phase 7, as he could trigger the next big event in the MCU, Annihilation. Annihilus is a powerful interdimensional insectoid villain from the Negative Zone, who plans to destroy anything that’s a threat to his existence. He could be set up as the big villain of Phase 7 through The Marvels and could be motivated to find his way out of the Negative Zone to take over the universe and destroy it.
In The Marvels, Kamala Khan's bangle may be key to triggering an incursion, as it allows her to manipulate extradimensional energy and extract "hard light" from the Noor Dimension. Kamala's great-grandmother found the bangle in a Ten Rings temple and used it to unlock Kamala's powers. As Kamala is still learning to use the bangle, she could accidentally pull dangerous characters or items from other dimensions, leading to an incursion.

"Secret Invasion" is an upcoming Disney+ series set to release in spring 2023, which is based on a comic book storyline of the same name. The show's premise revolves around the infiltration of Earth by the shapeshifting Skrull aliens, who gradually replace human figures with their imposters, resulting in a plethora of betrayals, mistrust, and plot twists. The show's title and source material suggest that it will be a vital chapter in the ongoing storyline of the MCU, and it may mark the end of the Avengers era, paving the way for a newer, darker team of superheroes.
Despite exploring the aftermath of the Avengers' actions in the battle against Thanos in Phase 4, the public's trust in Earth's Mightiest Heroes remains fragile as they head into "Secret Invasion." While Iron Man and Black Widow are hailed as heroes, the Avengers' lack of activity in the years since the Battle of Earth may cause the public's opinion to sour. Marvel has been teasing the Skrull invasion in various films and series for years, implying that the infiltration happened on the Avengers' watch. When the news breaks in "Secret Invasion," the world may blame the Avengers, leading to increased governmental control and reigniting the Sokovia Accords debate.
"Secret Invasion" may set up the Thunderbolts in the MCU, according to some theories. In the comics, the Thunderbolts were a lower-tier group of former criminals, supervillains, and antiheroes. During the Skrull invasion, under the leadership of Norman Osborn, the Thunderbolts capitalized on the opportunity and became the predominant superhero team in the Marvel Universe, leading to the formation of the Dark Avengers. "Secret Invasion" and "Thunderbolts" falling into Marvel's Phase 5 slate is no coincidence, and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine has a chance to prove that her team is superior to the Avengers by bringing the Skrull invasion to an end in a public manner.
In Avengers: Secret Wars, the original Avengers team can redeem themselves by saving the universe once more and ending on a high note. After this, the Avengers can reform into several focused teams that protect the world from specific threats. The Multiverse Saga has hinted at several superhero teams, including the Midnight Sons, Young Avengers, West Coast Avengers, and Fantastic Four. These potential teams could all be a part of a larger Avengers organization designed to better protect the world, divided into separate factions to catch threats before they become catastrophes.
If the Thunderbolts become the Dark Avengers, it is almost certain that they do not have the world's best interests at heart. The public will likely suffer at the hands of the team's malevolent benefactors, realizing their mistake in trusting this untested team.

In the final scenes of "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania," Scott and Kang engage in a fistfight, and Scott manages to blast Kang into his dimensional engine, seemingly disintegrating him. However, Scott is left with the nagging feeling that Kang may not really be dead and that stopping him may have doomed other realities. Despite this, Scott eventually pushes these thoughts aside and spends time with his family. The movie begins with Scott basking in the success of helping defeat Thanos and restore the snapped people, and it ends with him basking in the success of stopping Kang and saving the world again, but the question remains whether Kang is truly gone for good.
In the mid-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, it is revealed that Scott Lang's victory over Kang the Conqueror may have doomed the universe as it led to the emergence of a collective of Kang variants called The Council of Kangs. This follows the events of Loki Season 1, where the death of He Who Remains caused a rupture in the Sacred Timeline and allowed Kang and his variants to potentially destroy the multiverse. He Who Remains had previously been the gatekeeper preventing Kang and his variants from accessing the Sacred Timeline. Scott's success in stopping Kang may have inadvertently caused the emergence of the greater threat of The Council of Kangs.
The theory suggests that the world Scott Lang returns to at the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is a timeline created by the Council of Kangs to keep him from questioning Kang's genocidal mission and the multiverse. Scott's happy ending may not be the reality he left behind, and he may have been placed in a timeline shaped specifically for him to keep him complacent.
The second theory suggests that Scott Lang is still trapped in the Quantum Realm and the reality he experiences at the end of the movie is a construct that keeps him bound. This theory pulls evidence from Hank Pym's experience in the Quantum Realm during "Ant-Man and the Wasp." It's possible that Scott is trapped in an alternate reality or an unexplored part of the Quantum Realm, which he may not be aware of.
The abnormality at the end of Quantumania could be explained by the theory that Scott is trapped in the Quantum Realm and the "normal" reality he experiences is a hallucination or a construct keeping him bound. Kang's signature colors of purple and green also subtly bleed into the imagery at the end of the movie, with people wearing purple clothing and the unbirthday party featuring purple balloons and a green cake.

The "Sacred Timeline" is a term used to describe a collection of realities that were isolated after the Multiversal War by He Who Remains, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. These realities shared the same baseline and prevented the birth of evil variants of He Who Remains. The inhabitants did not have free will since any divergence from the sacred path, called Nexus Events, would be pruned by the Time Variance Authority to prevent the Multiverse from spiraling into chaos. Alternate realities were allowed to exist as long as they did not generate the slightest chance of a new evil variant of He Who Remains being born. The idea of a "Sacred Timeline" in the Loki series is misleading as there are actually multiple timelines that follow key moments to maintain peace as defined by the Time Keepers. It's also revealed in the show that there was a Multiversal War in the past, indicating that the Multiverse existed before He Who Remains. A new theory suggests that the "sacred" or "prime" Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) had merely been separated from the rest of the multiverse by the actions of He Who Remains, instead of being the only timeline for so long. While the multiverse normally wouldn't merit attention, the upcoming "What If...?" show has grown more important as it explores the creation of variant realities, which has become a central concept for upcoming MCU projects like "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness". Sylvie and Loki meet He Who Remains, the creator of TVA, at the Citadel at the End of Time. He tells them of the Multiversal War and how the Sacred Timeline was scripted to prevent the return of evil variants. Sylvie kills He, and the Sacred Timeline breaks, allowing the Multiverse to branch out. Kang takes control of TVA, and Loki realizes he is in an alternate TVA where Mobius receives orders from Kang. Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch is one of the most highly anticipated returns. This film, based on the 2015 comic book event, will see the Multiverse torn apart, leaving endless possibilities for the sixth Avengers film. Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch, is revealed to have immense power in the Disney+ series "WandaVision" and is prophesied to either rule or destroy the Multiverse. In the movie "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness", Scarlet Witch showcases her immense power by battling against the sorcerers of Kahmer-Taj and Earth-838's Illuminati. Despite turning villainous due to losing her children in "WandaVision", she ultimately sacrifices herself to destroy the Darkhold, the corrupting book. This sets up her potential return in the upcoming film "Avengers: Secret Wars" as a pivotal character. The temple built in her honor in "Multiverse of Madness" supports the possibility of Wanda fulfilling the prophecy of ruling or destroying the Multiverse. Scarlet Witch's apparent heroics in destroying the Darkhold may have caused multiple incursions and the fracture of the Multiverse, leading to the events of Secret Wars. Her actions may have fulfilled the prophecy that she'd once claimed was false. The mid-credits scene in the movie "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" introduced Charlize Theron's Clea, who confirmed that an incursion had occurred in the MCU.
