A bit of a 'bonus' episode this week as we actually had a fair bit of extra chat from the other night, where Joe Fitz, Bear and Catfish dissect a few of the common strategies like cheap forwards, cheap five eighths and most popular, cheap hookers. It's also a bit of a moral dilemma for Catfish that he has to wrestle with coming up to TLT!
Catfish then has a chat with the great man, Wacko Jacko, and go through each club and highlight a few rising rookies/youngsters to keep an eye on - for SuperCoach this year or next year.

The end is nigh... of the 2021 Preseason! Joe Fitz, Bear and Catfish discuss key takeaways from the final round of trials, including some seriously eye-catching performances, focusing on a number of different talking points such as whether it's okay to 'anti-POD' the likes of Big Tino, Charlie Staines. We were hoping to spend time dissecting some of the more popular team structures that SuperCoaches are going through but that will need to wait for another day, given how long the trial discussion ended up being - keep your eyes peeled for another episode to drop soon!

This week Bear and Catfish are joined by Joe Naddaf (@joenaddafA1 on Twitter), the reigning NRL SuperCoach champion from 2020! Joe shares about his 2020 experience, including a story on how he left a $50,000 decision to his kids, and some of the key lessons learned from his winning season that he plans to carry across to 2021.
We look at NRL coaches and what ways they influence NRL SuperCoach, and whether that should impact our player selection, and also we continue working through more of your strategy-based questions from last week, looking at team structure and balance.

This is one episode you just CANNOT miss - the information is just too juicy! Brien Seeney a.k.a. the NRL Physio is on to deliver some crucial injury information about all the key injuries and recoveries for the 16 NRL clubs.
It's a banger of an episode because it's almost guaranteed that we will discuss at least one player that is currently sitting in your draft team. And if it doesn't, well, your draft team needs work anyway!
The Champions then unpack it all and also discuss how much injuries factor into our team structure or player selections for Round 1, and we also start digging into your preseason Twitter questions.
It's a long one, but a good one ("that's what she said").

Catfish and Surgebuster (not Bear this week) are joined by almost SuperCoach royalty @nearlythegoat a.k.a. Rob Bruns the 2010 winner and 2008 runner-up, and we discuss a variety of topics ranging from the major strategic differences between H2H and overall games, how to approach team structure and looking at values of players (objective vs subjective), consideration of the bye rounds/representative players, to nuff or not to nuff... plus surprise surprise, Teddy gets a lot of air time yet again.

We're doing a continued dive in 2020 to see whether or not our eyes deceive us or not, and we have Andrew a.k.a. carlosthedwarf, author of the Buy Sell Hold article on nrlsupercoachtalk.com and the brains behind https://www.rugbyleagueeyetest.com/
He offers amazing insight and breaks down the actual figures surrounding 2020, and we unpack the SuperCoach impact and discuss the key takeaways for the 2021 season. We also debate whether or not to start Teddy, and this is probably the first of many discussions on this hotly contested topic over the next few weeks.

2021 is here and with a new year, new season, brings new HOPE - hope of a better SuperCoach season at least! The Champions had a rough end to 2020, a rough year all around, but we've come back from the preseason in great shape, we've been training the house down, our beep test results couldn't be better and our skin folds... actually, let's not talk about our skin folds. *ahem*
However, we do reflect on the mistakes (and good bits) of 2020's SuperCoach and NRL season, and also consider the big question - is the 2020 SuperCoach season an outlier? We also discuss what our preseason preparation actually entails, and we also unveil a bit of a surprise :)

It's the final round, and we are PUMPED! It's going to be an exciting finish, even if our teams are shattered to pieces due to unprecedented levels of injuries, restings and other drama.
Catfish is joined by NRLPhysio for the last time this year with the latest injury news, then does a quick rundown of the key takeaways from this week's teamlists including a discussion on what results might potentially impact subsequent games and encourage more 'resting'.
Then lastly, four people who have successfully navigated this final week, share their experience and advice on how to approach and also enjoy this final round! It's a big discussion with Bear, as well as input from BanyoBoy and VK, about this final week and what advice we would offer to Hamish, the current leader, and to the chasers lead mostly by Timmy Williams from the SC Playbook.

It's all drama drama with injuries, actual restings, potential restings and all sorts of messy team situations. The Wackos Whispers are critical and it's imperative to plan for late outs and other issues like that. And Catfish answers a few questions. Alright, enough rambling - get to listening!

Can this year get any harder? It's like the SuperCoach gods are testing us to see how far we can be stretched before we snap and lose our minds! But in some (slightly sadistic) way, this is fun. Apparently. But yes, players are injured, rested, suspended and leaving the NRL bubble for family reasons - all the fun things we can deal with as SuperCoaches!
Catfish rolls solo this week due to a late withdrawal from Bear and also NRLPhysio, and he brings the Round 18 injury wrap, he unpacks the mess that is the Round 19 teamlists and also goes into some of the ways of dealing with the player restings, being short on players this week and how to use those final trades. He also muses on some of the 'fun' parts of strategy in the final rounds of the overall competition.
