Now, I do not have the best of memories…just ask my wife. She is amazed at the useless things that I can remember, and at the common/normal things that I cannot. But the one thing I do remember very vividly is the day that I first met my future bride.

If a soldier is not fully outfitted for the battle, he can easily lose ground to the enemy. It’s the same concept with spiritual warfare. That’s why Paul wrote about Armor in Ephesians 6:10-18. He wanted to teach us about spiritual warfare, prayer and about how we can live the Christian life victoriously.

The Bible says that we find our safety and security when we trust in God, when we run to Him and seek shelter. When we choose to put on the whole armor we are protected and able to move about in the world without fear.

With the right armor, you can face anything that happens with quiet confidence and the assurance that you are not fighting alone.

In this session, we are going to talk about the issue of authorship of the synoptic gospels: Matthew, Mark and Luke. Some people say that The challenge is that we don’t really know who wrote them,. And because we don’t know who wrote them, we don’t know if they got the stories right or if the authors changed the stories of Jesus.

One really easy way to get started on a gratitude practice is to make a habit of counting your blessings both morning and night. You don’t even have to write them down, as in a gratitude journal, if that seems too overwhelming. Simply taking a few minutes when you wake up and before you go to bed is enough to begin cementing this new practice into your routine. Before long, you’ll be easily noticing that blessing abound. Here are some tips to help you begin.

Gratitude can be simply broken down to appreciating the good things in your life. It doesn’t always seem simple, though. When things are hectic or stressful, finding the silver lining can be challenging.

If Jesus never lived then obviously the Bible is not trustworthy. You may be saying, ‘who would question that?’ Actually there are people saying that Jesus is a totally mythical character and he never actually lived. Everything that we read in the Bible is made up by the church. So sometimes you hear, "How can you believe that Jesus is a real historical character when there is only one reference to him outside of the Bible and outside of Christian literature?" This is how it is often stated and they are referring to a statement by Josephus. We actually have about twelve references of Jesus from outside the Bible. This gives us a good attestation and some basic awareness of who Jesus was.

We can no longer assume that people trust their Bible. The popular media has launched such an attack on the believability of Scripture that our people have serious questions about the Bible. Are you ready to answer them? Did Jesus actually live? (Bill Maher on Larry King Live says no.) Did the biblical writers get it right, or did they slant/create the message? The gospels were written so long after Jesus lived; how can you trust them? How can you believe a Bible that is full of internal contradictions with itself and external contradictions with science? Doesn’t archaeology disprove the Bible? Why should we believe the books that are in the Bible; many good ones were left out, like the Gospel of Thomas. Why trust the Bible when there are so many and contradictory translations? We’ll do our best to address these questions and more in this upcoming series.

Just identifying the giants taunting you isn’t enough. You need a battle plan that will allow you to boldly claim victory over them. This is a plan that you’ll need to follow every day (sometimes for months or years) until you see God move in your situation.
