Superhero Stuff You Should Know

We have an EXCLUSIVE dive into the FIRST DRAFT of Batman & Robin from February 1996, featuring the more Shakespearian sounding Mr. Freeze (that may or may not have been written for Patrick Stewart?), deleted references to the previous movies, Batman 66, & even Clark Kent, less of the film’s notorious gags & one liners, and a DARKER ending.

Join us in checking out the costume designs that never made it into the most maligned Batman film of all time, including the insane alternate concepts for Poison Ivy & Batgirl and the (ahem) cooler Mr. Freeze design that didn't make it onscreen.

What exactly IS the "Schumacher Cut" of Batman Forever? We go into all the scenes that were deleted from Batman Forever, the many cut scenes that STILL haven't been released yet, the deleted character arc of Batman, and why fans probably shouldn't expect it to be THAT drastically different of a movie.

We dive into the unmade Batcaves that we never got to see. Learn about the deleted lines from Batman 1989 indicating that Bruce discovered the cave as a boy, the original entrance to the Burton Batcave, how the Batman Forever Batcave almost had the giant penny, how Darren Aronofsky’s unmade Year One script foreshadowed Robert Pattinson’s Batcave, and the Batcave designs for George Miller’s Justice League Mortal (courtesy Ryan Unicomb).

After the release of The Batman, we rank the different Batcaves across live action film and TV. Which one is the best? Which one gets the "goose egg?" We even include the obscure Batcaves, like the one from the Onstar commercial and the TV ones from Gotham, Batwoman, Crisis on Infinite Earths, and Titans! Comment with your favorite Batcave below.

We dive into what real life and historical figures/events inspired The Batman. What renowned film noir and crime thrillers helped inform the Matt Reeves take on Gotham? We then go further in the Matt Reeves-Christopher Nolan comparisons and why the “Nolan 2.0” criticisms are bullshit. Plus, we cover the comic book influences that we missed last time.

After a non-spoiler review, we dive into full spoiler territory on all the comic book influences on The Batman, including the LESS obvious comic connections. What Batman 66 references were subtly included in the film? How does Batman’s wingsuit stay true to the 1940s Batman? And what elements from unmade Batman scripts made it into the movie?

Leading up to The Batman, we dive into the unmade attempts to cover Batman's origin, including the insane Tim Burton & Julie Hickson concept of a teenage Joker gunning down the Waynes from an ice cream truck, the Batman Year One script that predates Joker and The Batman (2022) in its Taxi Driver influence, and the deleted backstory details of Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, Christian Bale, and Ben Affleck's Batmen!
