  • Purify Your Body and Mind with Connie Zack
In our today’s show we talk to Connie Zack, the co-owner and Chief Sales Officer at Sunlighten. Executive at heart, Connie held various positions at Procter & Gamble, making her way into P&G Leadership Group for future executives. She is here to explain the benefits of the new and improved technology of Infrared saunas.

We have found the way to separate each Infrared wavelength and fine-tune it to its right tipping point, transforming the body at the optimal levelClick To Tweet

Bending technology to our benefit is nothing new. It has been a path towards better, healthier lives ever since the first medicine was introduced. And when it comes to saunas, the new Infrared tech is proving time and again to be the way to go for all wellness enthusiasts.
    Sunlighten vs Regular Infrared
Mimicking the Sun’s heat without the risk of UV, not all Infrared is the same. Connie claims that the Sunlighten sauna technology, an infrared of better quantity and wavelength, not only heats but also regenerates the body at the cellular level. It goes deep enough for deep detox and cleansing. The Sunlighten’s improved benefits of reduced blood pressure, decreased pain, or general improvement in energy levels are medically very well tested and attested.

Our Mission is all about helping people live a healthier lifestyle through innovationClick To Tweet

    The Best Combination
There are three different wavelengths of infrared light, each affecting the body differently. These are:
Far Infrared: the longest waves that emanate even and consistent glow. It’s used for deep purification.
Middle Infrared: shorter waves that emanate more conventional heat. It’s very useful for inflammation, often used by athletes for injury recovery.
Near Infrared: it’s very hot. It is great for surface inflammation and cellular regeneration of the skin.
The Sunlighten tech uses a combination of different Infrared wavelengths and gives you the best of all three worlds. The saunas from Sunlighten offer you 6 programs each a combination of the three.
    When to Use it
There is no prescribed Infrared usage regarding the time of day. Still, morning treat will feel radically different in that it will give you the energy boost and clarity of mind right off the bat. Nightly usage however, results in baby sleep and complete regeneration of body and mind.
But no matter the time of day, with Sunlighten you can be sure that no pestilent EMFs are flooding your body. The Sunlighten saunas are built to cancel out any negative electricity. The healing energy from Sunlighten empowers you to take the day on, no matter what it throws at you.

  • Dr. Chris Kukk: Compassion and Success go Hand in Hand
Our today’s guest is the professor of political Science at Western State University Dr. Chris Kukk. Author, former counter intelligence agent, and Director of Center for Compassion, Creativity & Innovation, he tries to redefine what we know about success, elevating the role of compassion in achieving it. Did we mention that he’s also broken bread with his holiness Dalai Lama?

When we lose compassion, we lose the essence of who we are as human beings.Click To Tweet

    The Value of Compassion
For one person to succeed few others have to fail, or so we have been told. Achieving over other people is an accepted artificial virtue in today’s society. But success built on other people’s failures or, worse yet, their misgivings, is short-lived. One built on compassion however, on caring for one another even if it means getting burnt every now and then, is more sustainable.
Being compassionate is often frowned upon as a lesser virtue, a soft disadvantage in the game called survival and success. It is not so. It is rather the strength to trust and forgive, the water that ever so steadily tames the hardness of rocks. The essential aspect of compassion is the heightened ability to solve problems, both yours and of those around.
    The King of the Hill
Remember that game we all played as children where you have to trump all the other kids to win? Yeah, that one. It is highly emblematic of our individualistic nature of taking each other down. We’re taught to be ruthless, to win all the time, to be competitive to the point of extreme selfishness.

Only the strong can be compassionate @DrChrisKukkClick To Tweet

But this is no way to any happiness worth having. Nor is it the way to the top. It is rather through awareness of other people that we shape our success. Compassion is the key here, as it opens up the possibilities we never thought of. We are often so hung on our superficial dreams that we miss out on all the doors that are opening right before our eyes, but that we are blind to see.
    You Can Learn it
The quality of compassion can be acquired in both daily life and business. Chris recommends the LUCA plan: Listening, Understanding, Connection, and Acting. It all starts with the listening skill, but listening to things we both agree and disagree with. It is the necessary skill to be able to listen not to take someone down, but to build your understanding further.
    Pick up, Dust off
Nelson Mandela once said that he never lost; he either won, or learned.
People are often afraid that compassion might get them burned. Chris is here to tell you that it is desirable to get burned from time to time. It counts as a benefit that you can learn so much about people and yourself from these slips. Open yourself up to new experiences, compassion is a way of enriching your world in ways beyond anything you can achieve with selfishness.

  • Kelly LeVeque: The Science behind Nutrition
Our today’s guest is a celebrity nutritionist and wellness expert Kelly LeVeque. Coming from the cancer and genetics background she has a wholesome, scientific approach to nutrition that tries to understand how given fat or fiber work in our bodies.

People can assume that lifestyle habits can fix all their problems, but it’s the biology and the science behind it that really set people free.Click To Tweet

    Diet is a Tool
With so many different diets having so many varieties among them, it is increasingly confusing to plan and execute your nutrition strategy. But Kelly is here to remind us that it’s all actually very simple: the only rule is to observe how your body responds to certain combination of food intake. There are a few ground rules, for sure, but whatever works for you within the boundaries of those rules is the preferred option. Diet variations are just tools to get you where you want.
    The Science of it
Having slogged through an infinite number of studies, Kelly is out there to educate people about how food constituents work. She extracts valuable stuff from the studies which give us tools to helps understand the biology behind the diets.
    Hormone reaction

In our meal we need to make sure that every single hunger hormone is regulated @bewellbykellyClick To Tweet

It is much due to how we negotiate things with our hormones that react differently to different compounds. Protein for instance does a very good job in shutting down a certain hunger hormone, making your crave for sugars much less potent. The food philosophy rests on how we balance the intake of fats, proteins, fibers, and greens, and also on the quality of each.
    Mind your Blood Sugar
Eating sugars without giving your body a fair shot to clear itself is the worst nutritional sin you can make. Not only do the elevated fasting blood sugar levels mar your potential performance, they also pave the way for diabetes or Alzheimer’s. Occasionally sinning is not a big deal only if you know how to bring the glucose level down afterwards.
    Change your Habit
Just as with everything else, checking all the boxes is not what the proper nutrition is all about. You should instead employ a series of small changes to your day that have maximum benefits. You’ll be amazed the difference this makes.

  • Cherishing the Art of Movement with Jacquelyn Umof
Our today’s guest is a movement specialist and an ex-Laker girl Jacquelyn Umof. With a background in ballet, she is out on a mission to improve lives through subtle art of body movement and exercise. Jacquelyn talks to us about how to connect with our bodies and become the better version of ourselves.

When you feel like you love yourself, you can much better serve others Click To Tweet

    Take Some Me Time
Life has changed in the last 2 decades. Our professional obligations eat up so much of our time that we can hardly devote a little of it to ourselves. But you must chunk out some ‘me’ time in your ever so busy schedule. The results are the overwhelmingly improved quality of life.
Physical activity should take some of that time. Our bodies are not meant for sitting still, but for making movements. What even a little physical engagement like stretching or breathing exercise does is to help your body get more oxygen, pump the blood faster, and as a result detox itself. 5-10 minutes a day is all that you ever need, with the commitment that goes along with it.
    Office Work(out)
Working in an office all day is not an excuse for not working out. Even less so, as the sedentary job involves the obvious bad habit along with doing the same repetitive motions. There is a plethora of simple few minute exercises that will nullify the punch of these negative effects. Everything from movement, stretching, breathing exercises, or simply changing positions will improve your life in tremendous fashion.

Even 10 minutes of exercise a day can help increase productivity, focus, energy, and release tightness @actionjacquelynClick To Tweet

    Efficient Nutrition
As far as nutrition goes, Jacquelyn suggests to find out what works for, or more importantly, what works against you. She’s sensitive to sugars for instance, but big on smoothies because they represent a huge time-saving way of providing your body with as much good stuff as it needs. Smoothies are also very energy-efficient in that they help you make less decisions during your day, consuming less energy.
    Love Yourself
Working out is an act of self-love, Jacquelyn profoundly pronounces. Feeling in tune with our bodies is one of the necessary requisites of living a full life. This is why the approach to exercise must take into account that you are doing something good for yourself, something that is going to be beneficial to you both physically and mentally.
Jacquelyn’s most important mission is change the perspective when doing physical exercise from one of hate to the one of love.
The lenses through we see ourselves matter a lot, and improving ourselves will always include improving our mindset to begin with.

  • Family is Your number One Asset; Cherish it with Joshua Straub Ph.D.

Our today’s guest is Joshua Straub, a distinguished Marriage and Family Strategist with a Ph.D. in the area. He is also the president and cofounder of the Connextion group, and is here with us to talk some wisdom into our family relations; specifically, what makes them work.

So goes the marriage, so goes the familyClick To Tweet

Keeping a healthy family together is becoming an increasingly difficult task. With our focus shifting from personal to professional and vice versa all the time, to do everything ‘right’ is virtually impossible. The main thing though is not doing it ‘right’, but to get you marriage or relationship in such rhythm that the problems might identify themselves, after which you can act to sort them out.
    Ebbs and Flows
No relationship is perfect all the time. There’s changes in your relation towards the loved ones. Once you’ve internalized this, you’ll start to notice when your relationship is in need of a refreshment. An unplanned night out with your spouse or a prolonged 1 on 1 time with your kid will offer themselves as solutions. Also, setting aside some regular time for such occasions will benefit your family greatly.
    Parenting Made Simpler
It will never be easy, raising kids, but it can be made simpler by establishing an umbrella set of principles on parenting. Don’t bother with this technique or that, we all get those wrong most of the time, but on the posture from which you act. One of them is time. Your time is the most valuable resource in raising children. Spending as much of it as you can in those early years is important beyond any doubt.

You have everything hardwired in you to be a great parent @joshuastraubClick To Tweet

Another posture that is extremely beneficial long term is setting yourself to be the safe haven for your child. As they grow up, so many things change so fast that they need something to cling to. If they don’t find it home, they’ll go search for it elsewhere. This is why you shouldn’t act all stern with teenagers punishing all their irrational and harsh reactions. Taking a step back is difficult, but extremely rewarding.
Focus on Yourself and Your Kids
Aside from love and affection, the things that will influence your kids the most are your ability to cope with stress, and you relation with the spouse. Kids are impressionable; nothing escapes them, they take in every bit of emotional cue they meet.
Setting yourself strait and stress-free, make sure to allow some 20 minutes to enter your child’s world. This is huge, especially when they’re little, that you slice some time to play the world by their rules. It will greatly boost their confidence, not to mention the fun you’ll have together.

  • Mobility Method with Jen Esquer

We have Dr. Jen Esquer as our guest today, a top-notch practitioner and a movement enthusiast. Former gymnast and today a Pilates instructor, Jen is here to provide insight into how to control our life via controlling our health.

We have the responsibility to prevent pain, prevent injury, and appreciate exactly what we’ve been givenClick To Tweet

They say that a healthy man has many goals, but a man in pain only one. We seem to take our bodily health for granted. It is only when we experience pain or some other impediment that we learn to appreciate the functioning of our body.
To unlock the potential that we have, pain needs to be confronted. The chronic pain is a cause for alarm, but those little pains of life that we overcome are what makes us stronger.
    Take a Breath
We’re told that if we want to succeed in life or business, not a moment of spare time is allowed. Jen is here to debunk the myth. She insists that in exercise rest is just as important as the strain. Extended to business, her remarks suggest that we should take some time off every once in a while, pause for some breath, and then return to the task more in tune with our bodies. Breathing is the footing of health.
    Take a Bite
Besides breathing, food is the fundamental pillar to our wellness. Considering what diet to take to, Jen suggest that you experiment a little. Your body is your trustful ally, and it will let you know soon enough what diet feels the healthiest.
If you’re not the kind that changes things dramatically, don’t overdo your diet. Take incremental steps towards the better or, something Jen suggests, try journaling your health. Scribble down how you feel during and after each step in your diet change.

Take control of your body @docjenfitClick To Tweet

    Set Your Intentions Strait
Having something to drive us out of bed is quintessential for making the day count. Not a morning person, Jen made it a rule never to get up without a firm intention of what she would accomplish that day. Having a vision will give your day a meaning, and also determine your route in face of something trying to sidetrack you.
    Get moving!
The number one detriment to our bodies is a sedentary way of life. To be the best version of yourself, you need to be in constant movement. Office job is not an excuse, there are series of simple stretches that you can do sitting or standing. They will mean a world for your body, and hopefully inspire others.
    For, as Jen has it:
people don’t realize how much they inspire other people just by being themselves.

  • Brian Mackenzie – Proper Breathing Might be the Most Important Thing in Life
Our guest for today is Brian Mackenzie, a world-renowned strength and conditioning coach and author of two phenomenal books. Adding much value to our series, he focuses on the thing many of us neglect in our ride to success – breathing.

Technology is accelerating in a rate that we as a species cannot keep up withClick To Tweet

    Pause for Breath
Technology has the power and platform to shift the paradigms and change the nature of our everyday activities. News feed for instance, is now completely different to what it was just 10 years ago. But tech can also narrow the field of interest by providing sort of an instant pseudo satisfaction. It’s up to us to get the most out of technology without falling into its alluring behavioral trap. The secret is to pull out, pause for breath, and reflect as soon as you notice it narrowing you down.
Addiction is nothing more than narrowing the things that bring us pleasure, Brian quotes his friend.
Following the footsteps of technology is easy, but building a sound foundation unmindful of its traps is easier said than done. Forget about nutrition being the foundation. Take two people who eat the same meals under similar external circumstances, with one being stressed out and the other not. The difference in their reaction will be stark. No, nutrition is not the foundation; but it’s rather the way we see the world and interact with it.
    Focus on the Fundamentals
According to Brian, the foundation from which to build a stress-free life starts with how we breathe. Most of us at the entrepreneurial dance get lost in duties, numbers, and tomorrows, that we totally neglect slowing down a little and focusing on our breathing patterns. This can get us out of most of the stressful situations.

Breathing is one way of altering state through non-meditative practices @brianmackenzieClick To Tweet

There is no universal way to perfect your breathing, what’s important is to understand the principles of in-and-out. Particularly as there are no two people with same breathing cycles. Changing each of the four elements of the breathing process (inhale, breath hold, breath pause, and exhale) will elicit drastically different responses from people. Breathing the right way can shift feelings and alter those unexpected nuances on the fly.
Having a foothold in breathing is a key to attaining fearlessness. Being to a shark dive, Brian relates these predators to meeting the scary challenges in any line of work. Breathing is what helps you stay composed in adverse situations, and avoid being a prey.
I Just Wanna be a Kid
Brian takes a moment or two to reflect on life and why do we do the things we do. Why bother with business at all? The answer lies in the present moment, or rather, how much of that child is still in you. Being adult all the way through makes you less than complete; the childish curiosity is something you need to cherish and preserve with your life.

  • Run Your Life the Right Way with Dean Karnazes
The man we have on our show today stretches the limits of being a superhuman. An ultra-marathon runner of note and author of four books, Dean Karnazes also runs a successful business alongside.

Anyone who’s run a marathon knows that the lessons you learn translate to business and lifeClick To Tweet

    Human, All too Human
If there ever was any doubt, he is the ultimate proof what dedication, passion and sacrifice can achieve. Dean turned a runner after the age of 30, leaving a great job behind to follow the dream. By his own admission it was terrifying, but less than had he not given it a try.
    Be Obsessive About Your Goal
Dean’s records include running for 81 hours non-stop and covering 350 miles in the process. This is only possible, he believes, if you set a goal and follow it through religiously. Once you clicked on what you want to accomplish, that’s it; apply your full focus to it, everything else should serve the ultimate goal.
When he says everything, he mostly means time. “Time is an asset”, Dean holds, and the most important one you have. Don’t let it dissipate on things that don’t matter or matter to someone else. Take out a part of the day that’s going to be yours and yours only.

You have to be the master of your schedule @DeanKarnazesClick To Tweet

    “My Diet Is My Supplement”
As an athlete and entrepreneur, Dean holds a disciplined diet. Not necessarily strict, as he eats everything that his body agrees with, rejecting the foods that it doesn’t. He adapted the diet through rigorous self-experimentation only to land on a modified paleo. That will change no doubt, as it should, but the one thing he absolutely can’t do without is intermittent fasting. Skipping breakfast every once in a while works wonders, just as skipping meals when there’s nothing good for him on the menu.
Better eat no food than eat wrong food.
He’s also not too friendly with supplements, believing that the wholefoods he processes have more than enough in them to render the supplements unnecessary.
    Know Thyself
To be successful, you have to be comfortable with who you are. Having lots of people around can be noisy at times, hence why you need to shut the world out at times and dedicate the time for some self-examination. Do a routine, running, reading, or something else, that’ going to help you search inside the wells of yourself.
