This week we’re breaking down a quote a friend of Hailey’s sent in about “eating addiction” highlighting some of the finer points of how diet culture and fatphobia spread from one context to the greater culture as a whole.
We answer a listener question about sexual compatibility within a marriage and try to work through some different ways this can be worked through. Sexual awakening post-purity culture is a theme throughout as well.
We also talk about the woes of smart watches and determining whether or not it is a part of the problem of diet culture at large.
Episode highlights:
“Maybe the problem is that you live in diet culture.”
“Either you feel good, or you’re shameful.”
“But shame and regret are the same thing that sent you to the chip bag in the first place!”
“It’s not an addiction, but there’s a reason that it’s happening.”
“2012 feminism probably had a lot more problematic parts to it than 2021 feminism.”
“Your sexuality isn’t a light switch that you get to turn on the day you get married.”
“They did ya dirty, man, they really did.”
