This episode did not hold back from kicking us in the gut almost immediately. This really sets the tone for a season bound to be filled with a plethora of emotion. The slate has been cleaned — season 12 served as, what many are calling a bridge season, and we’ve walked over that bridge and on the other side is limitless possibilities. The episode painted a bleak picture for the Winchesters — their friend(s) and mother are believed to be dead and they are alone. All of this servers as perfect ingredients for a solid and spectacular season.

This week Richard Speight Jr. returns to the set of Supernatural to direct another episode and he has delivered again! He’s officially 3 for 3, proving that he can play the role of actor and director. Since last season, Richard has manage to tackle comedy, cool and now with this recent episode, Speight has seamlessly delved into the horror genre. He’s exactly what the show needed right now and although this episode was a bit of a hybrid MOW/Myth-arc there were some parallel narratives at work (Mary/Ketch), plus some possible foreshadowing of some things that could happen (Max/Alicia). 

Additionally, the word by way of social media is that the upcoming season finale will have the second to largest episode for VFX since the show first aired. Seems like, the season is shaping up to be an epic finale. Find out what we have to say on the latest episode of The Crossroads.
