Supernatural Confessions

Buyers Beware: House is Haunted. That’s not a disclaimer you are going to hear when buying a home. This episode we bring you confessions from homeowners who had to deal with hauntings in a place they call their home, and it isn’t just the old second hand houses that are haunted, even brand new houses can be affected by bad Feng Shui or just bad land. Our guest today is a Property Agent whose own home was haunted by the spirt of an old man, briefly. What does he have to say about selling haunted houses to his clients? Is he obliged to tell?

Before the arrival of Islam, the Malays were practising animism. Those ancient beliefs are still passed down today and form the foundation of many of our local ghost stories such as the entity with the flying head, nasi Kang Kang love spell and the most famous of all, The Pontianak.

In this episode, we showcase confessions from a model who was cursed by a jealous rival, a possible theory how Pocongs are created, and a Hantu Raya forbidden love story.

Police work isn’t easy. Besides keeping the community safe, writing reports, and doing whatever it is their vocation requires of them, they also need to keep secrets of their paranormal experiences. I’ve met police petrol at Jalan Wak Hassan area and we stopped to chat about the hauntings in the area. I think he probably felt relieved that he could tell it someone else. We also got active officers working at HQ level who wanted to share their stories on the condition that their identities remain confidential. As a modern progressive nation, we pride ourselves on having a practical and logical view of the world, unlike the generations before us who believe in old wives tales. How silly of them, we say. But it’s this sort of mindset that pushes the discussion of the paranormal to the underground, and it is also what makes Supernatural Confession so intriguing to so many people, because these stories aren’t available in public domain. There’s a strange fascination about the paranormal and the unknown, and a part of us wants to know if it’s true.  And such validations are even more powerful when it’s coming from people in position of authority that we trust - such as doctors, scientists, and police officers.

In this episode we got an ex police officer to join us as a guest to give us insights into how the men and women in blue operate behind the scenes, and how do police officers react to haunting?

Sawadee krap! Cara from the Supernatural Confessions super Mod initiated a campaign for us to showcase ghost stories from Thailand and the community responded by sharing their encounters. Our featured confession Eugene Toh, whom we call ET for short, is a Supernatural Confessions alumni. Today's episode will be a long one but I think you might enjoy the stories as much as we did telling and dissecting it.

In this episode, Fables and Grandma tales, we look at stories and belief of a different time. These stories that may sound fantastical to the younger audience, but at one time in history, these were the common tales people talk about and believe in. Firdaus is out featured confessor today and he recalls the stories that his grandma had told him.

If you are looking for something more to life than the long hair, white gown variant of hantus, then today’s episode will be a real treat for you. There’s big foot, genie granted untold riches, but with a price, and a water dragon that left behind its scale.

Dato Crow, founder from Ghost Adventurers was supposed to be our featured guest today but unfortunately he was involved in traffic accident. Other than broken bones, we are very thankful that he's alive. But that also means he was not able to take the show today so I dug out my classified files and share these confessions with you today. These were cases I personally attended to so I’m able to provide more details, albeit from my perspective. That’s why I have my community and co-host Jonathan Lim to help me out with other possible theories I might have missed out on.

I also want to thank podcast listener Bock Yang, and Patron Teo Shi Jie for giving me the feedback that they would like to hear the Friday Night Live version of the podcast in its entirety without the edits from the video version.

Now that traveling has resumed post covid, what better way to spook you out than a good retelling of hotel room supernatural encounters told to us by confessors.

Our featured guest for this episode travels extensively and sleeps around, in many hotels. She’s Friday Night Live alumni Sonia Khurana. As a host on the show, she’s known to be the voice of rationality when dissecting our confessions, choosing to explain away any encounters with possibilities before she would admit that it’s the hantu.

The reason you will find Jon’s voice echoey today, is because he’s taking the call outside right after a shoot. That’s the level of dedication we have when hosting for Supernatural Confessions. Just like back in the days when Sonia was traveling and logging in to call at different parts of the world, one time she even hosted from the hospital bed.

The western myths have their lycanthropes and shapeshifters. In Asian mythology, we have stories of how souls of the dead can come back as a moth; and evil spirits taking the forms of palesit. According to the Pontianak lore, this apex predator can transform into a giant white bird and when it flies around at night, it makes the quaking sound of a duck. Hardly what I would consider frightening at all. In the first confession, a security guard came face to face with a Pontianak and witnessed the transformation. We have heard of it before, but it’s extremely rare for an actual first hand eye witness account. I’m convinced it the hantu, but my guest, Matt Verkaik, thinks he has evidence that the sound people say they heard is actually that of a bird. Something with a white belly. I can never remember that word. The second confession is so cute, we think the entity deserves a special supernatural confessions tee design. Now, let’s get on with the show.
