Millions of Americans with student loans are in for some changes. The "big, beautiful bill" that President Trump signed into law on July 4 overhauls the federal student loan system by reducing the number of repayment plan options down to two from seven and capping the amount individuals can borrow for higher education.

Two suspects are facing charges for an incident Friday night in D'Iberville. According to police, a vehicle hit a house and came to rest in a yard nearby. The driver of the car, who has yet to be identified, had suffered a fatal gunshot wound. Two suspects were found in the backyard of a home in the area with the help of K-9 officers.

The 2025 MLB Draft got underway in Atlanta on Sunday. Hearing his name called with the eighth overall pick was Purvis High School star JoJo Parker. Parker, an 18-year-old shortstop with a lot of upside, was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays.

The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a trough of low pressure off the coast of northern Florida that could bring heavy rainfall to Mississippi later this week. The system is expected to move westward across Florida during the next day or so, and into the northeastern Gulf by late Tuesday.

The Mississippi Arts Commission has partnered with the Levitt Foundation to combine a public art grant with a multi-year AMP Music Series Grant to create vibrant community destinations.
