On Monday, the DOJ unveiled the largest health care fraud bust in history, and a pair of north Mississippians have been indicted as part of that bust. Corinth pharmacists Ricky Wayne Quinn and John Anthony Null have been charged with conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud. They allegedly submitted false claims to Medicare and Medicaid for more than $700,000 for prescription drugs. Their alleged scheme allowed Quinn and Null to repeatedly bill Medicare and Medicaid numerous times for the same prescription drug products.

The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a disturbance that is expected to stall over or near Florida late this week. Warm waters along the eastern Gulf and southern Atlantic coasts could provide the fuel necessary for the development of a tropical depression or tropical storm around July 4. The next named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season will be Chantal.

A Mississippi man allegedly murdered his father-in-law in Byhalia over the weekend. According to the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, 28-year-old Jaleyone LaQuan Young assaulted his girlfriend. Later that evening, Young allegedly beat and strangled his father-in-law, Stanley Mills, to death, then fled into a wooded area. Young has been formally charged with domestic violence, aggravated assault, and murder. Plus, the man who allegedly committed a string of crimes in the Westchester Hills Subdivision in Jackson on Saturday is facing multiple charges, and more charges are expected to be filed against him. So far, 39-year-old Quinton Culbertson is charged with two counts of simple assault, indecent exposure, three counts of domestic violence, house burglary, malicious mischief, trespassing, and petit larceny.

A former Clarke County Sheriff's Deputy with more than 30 years of public service has lost his battle with bone cancer. Deputy Barry White passed away Monday morning. Funeral arrangements are currently unavailable. Plus, four suspects are facing charges after allegedly stealing fireworks from a stand on Eastside Drive in Newton and leading police on a chase early Monday.

After two runs at statewide office as a Democratic Party candidate, Ty Pinkins is moving on from the party. The U.S. Army veteran and attorney-turned-politico announced his intention to walk away from his longtime affiliation Tuesday. In the same statement, Pinkins reaffirmed his intention to run for U.S. Senate in 2026 – this time as an independent.

A former federal probation officer has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for receiving disturbing child sexual abuse materials.

Law enforcement officers started investigating 46-year-old Lonnie Everill, of Water Valley, after he allegedly engaged in chats with another social media user regarding their sexual interest in children. According to investigators, Everill had over 1,400 images of very young children and toddlers
