Today we have a fantastic book written by a very young author who was still in high school when she wrote it, Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. To help a couple old guys and Steve think through this coming-of-age tale we have a very special guest, Lily Wellman. Well, we finally did it. We have taken our first foray into the wizarding world of J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter. Good thing we pick books who’s authors and contents are never in any way controversial. We start out by discussing some of the controversy surrounding these books in the evangelical world and why we have decided to read them. We hope that you enjoy them as mach are we did/are.

Happy Monday evening everybody (at least that is when I uploaded this, it may be Saturday for you for all I know) Anyway today we have a book that I would say was one of the more surprising books I have read recently. Surprising in the way that it was completely captivating in unexpected ways. We all hope that it was instructive and helpful and humbling and emotional and any other adjective that you would like to put with it.

Welcome back to the Supplementalist. In this episode we are looking at the oldest book we have ever done. so old we aren’t exactly sure how old it is. this is a timeless classic of the english language, Beowulf. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did

Happy New Year everybody! So confession time, I was supposed to have this out a few weeks back but I am not doing so hot with my New Year resolution to get episodes edited and dropped in a timely manner, but hey at least I made it before calendar turned to February right?  Anyway we are back with an excellent book for the new year and that is Digital Liturgies by Samuel D. James. this is an excellent look at how our digital lives are shaping us and helps us to better evaluate our online habits. We hope this was a helpful book and discussion for you all.

Merry Christmas you filthy animals. Hopefully you weren’t left home alone this Christmas but if you are, we are here to keep you company. This was the first episode that we recorded in 3-4 months and boy did we have a fantastic book to get us back into recording; Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. This Sci-fi book is just plain fun and we hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did.

I know its been a while but we are finally back. This episode was recorded several months ago but now we are back in the saddle and recording some new content for you. We hope that you had a great summer and read som fantastic books this year during our hiatus. If you have a book suggestion send it in, somehow, and if we read our mail we just might read it and discuss. 

Today we have Joseph Conrads book Heart of Darkness. This book is as chearful as it sounds. We do think it is worth the read in spite of some objectionable descriptions and ways of speech.
