Supreme Court ruling sets off gerrymandering scramble

The Supreme Court's April 29, 2026, ruling in Louisiana v. Callais has triggered a chaotic "redistricting arms race" across the United States. In a 6-3 decision, the Court struck down Louisiana’s congressional map, ruling that the creation of a second majority-Black district was an unconstitutional racial gerrymander.
