Historically speaking, there have been times where the truth and the gospel had almost disappeared altogether. Yet, God preserves the truth, preserves the faith, and preserves gospel comfort. He gave us his Word to show us what the truth is. He gives us pastors to teach us his Word. Through the preaching, teaching, and application of the gospel, we pray that the gospel may never be lost again.

Jesus' definition of "great" and the world's definiton of "great" are completely different. The desire for greatness in this life tends to be about personal glory and recognition. Jesus definition of "great" is service of others. Jesus came into this world to serve not to be served by others. He did that in the most wonderful way ever. He died on the cross for the sins of the world. It is this sacrifice that motivates us to serve.

Whether we want to think about it or not, we will all, one day, face death. Therefore, we are all faced with a similar question, what is going to happen to me after I die? What must I do to inherit eternal life? However, Jesus makes it clear that this question has a false premise - it assumes that there is something that you need to do to enter eternal life. Jesus and the Bible teaches otherwise. There is nothing to do, because it has already been done! Praise be to Jesus!

God's picture of marriage has always been counter-cultural because God's picture of marriage is perfect. Our culture, on the other hand, is not perfect, but infected with sin. That sin makes marriage a difficult subject to talk about sometimes, but we need to talk about marriage. We need to hear God's picture for marriage, we need to hear that we are forgiven, and we need to have our thoughts about marriage formed by God.

The two main teachings of the Bible are Law and Gospel. In both of these teachings we can see God's deep love and concern for our souls. With his Law, he wants us to wake up to the seriousness of our sin and finally address it. With his Gospel, he wants us to feel the real, everlasting comfort that comes from knowing the Jesus died and rose for us!

Joshua speaks to the people of Israel and he encourages them to serve the Lord. However, we know our hearts, we know that we have failed. We have been unfaithful like the Israelites, but God has always been faithful and he always will be faithful.

There are walls in your life that separate you from someone. These walls, spiritually speaking, are harmful to your soul. The wall between you and God and the wall between you and others. However, Jesus tore down both of those walls with what he did for you on the cross.

A Doxology is a short hymn of praise to God. So if we say that our lives are a doxology to God, that's a pretty great way to look at our lives! We live are lives to the praise of God and to his glory.

The Bible teaches that there is always more going on than meets our eyes. There is a constant spiritual battle that surrounds us. But we are not left without a defense. Jesus has conquered sin and Satan. Therefore, the believer relies on Jesus and his protection and prays with confidence, "Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil."

When we ask for God to forgive us our sins, we are asking God to see Jesus' sacrifice on our behalf. God forgives our sins; he cancels our debt. It is this forgiveness that gives us peace and this forgiveness that encourages us to forgive others.
