Survivor's guilt--a response to an event in which someone experienced loss but you did not---seems to be alive and well in the Asheville area after the remnants of Hurricane Helene unleashed floodwaters where lives were lost, homes were lost and all of our lives were turned upside down. Finding meaning providing support, and volunteering are all ways one can help especially when feeling this way.
