Magic is synonymous with paganism but that is due in part to misconceptions. Magic exists in the Jewish and Christian traditions too and not all pagans used magic or performed divination. Magic is not a form of devotional piety for pagans. Historically, the only form of magic that seems to be associated with piety is prognostication in the service of the state/ethnos. Even other forms of prognostication were really separate from normal religious activities. In this stream Dr Boaz and I will look at the function of the Oracle, diviner, witch in many Indo-European cultures; mainly Germanic pagans and Romans but also Greeks and Celts too.

There is a terrible new development in Medievalism. A push from activists to completely ban the use of the word Anglo-Saxon.
It started with grievance monger Rambaran-Olm complaining that Anglo-Saxon is exclusionary and that AS studies are too white. Her blogs and complaints resulted in the International Society of Anglo-Saxonists (ISAS) agreeing to change its name.
