  • A Heavy Heart- Behavioral Euthanasia and the Journey Through Grief in Rescue

This week on our Surviving Animal Rescue podcast here at Coco's Heart Dog Rescue, we open our hearts to the heaviest of conversations... one that sits at the intersection of love, limits, and loss. We talk about behavioral euthanasia, the deep toll it takes on our souls, and the unspoken grief rescuers carry.

We also share our experiences with board-and-train programs, management strategies, and the resources that can sometimes help, while acknowledging the moments when even love and effort aren’t enough.

This is not an easy episode to hear, and it wasn’t an easy one to record. If your heart isn’t in a place for such a heavy topic right now, please know it’s okay to come back when you’re ready.

  • 1 Dog....14 Breeds. The Results are IN | Episode 13

Remington arrived to rescue needing a pediatric neck brace and a whole lot of medical attention from being shot in the neck and abused. He permanently joined the home of our Foster Coordinator, Kayla where an ongoing theory was running through the rescue that he is a Shiba Inu. Thanks to an amazing volunteer at Coco's Heart Dog Rescue who supplied the DNA test, the results are IN and 14 breeds later, we finally put it to rest. Is Remington a Shiba....could it be so?! Listen in for the results and a good time.

We wrap up sharing the exciting news that the Minnesota Wild Team Dog #7, the beautiful black lab/pitbull mix, Rookie was officially handed off to her recipient of our wonderful partnering organization, Soldiers6- a non-profit organization who supports and provides service dogs to local heroes who serve for our country.
