Tyson came into this Blood vs. Water already seen as a threat. The idea of him being a threat then came up a numerous times throughout the season. Yet nobody ever mounted a serious attempt to vote him out. How did he put himself into such a favorable position and control the game so well? David and Jessica did a full season rewatch and compared the Final 3 to David’s rules, so it’s time to take a new look at Why Tyson Won.

Cook Islands began with tribes separated by race. But in the end it came down to brains vs. brawn, with just one vote separating Yul and Ozzy. How did Yul pull it off? How much of his success should we attribute to the overpowered idol compared to his own game play? And what was Ozzy missing? David and Jessica did a full season rewatch and took a new look at David’s older articles and interviews, using Yul and Ozzy’s own words to explain the highs and lows of their games. It’s time to take a new look at Why Yul Won.

Chris caused his tribe to lose the very first challenge because he couldn’t make it over a balance beam. Very often, that would spell the end of a Survivor player. But Chris had bigger plans and a while he was unable to handle the beam, the rest of his game was very balanced. At the merge it again looked like he should have been doomed, but he turned that around too and came out as the winner. How did he pull it off? David and Jessica did a full Vanuatu rewatch and took a new look at David’s older articles and interviews along with other information. Did it cause them to appreciate Chris more or less? It’s time to take a new look at Why Chris Won.

After the Samoa finale originally aired, David was overwhelmed by e-mail from his website readers. Some people were seriously pissed. Is it as controversial now, in retrospect? Through most of the season, Natalie appeared to be just one of Russell’s followers who would compete for second place. How did she turn the tables on the man who thought he was the best player in history? What did Natalie do that he couldn’t or wouldn’t? David and Jessica did a full Samoa rewatch with the winner in mind and took a new look at David’s older articles and interviews along with other information. What reevaluation of their original thoughts did it cause? It’s time to take a new look at Why Natalie Won.

Many people have Bob near or at the bottom of the Survivor winner rankings. Not to spoil anything, but there are some very good reasons for that. He’s a very nice guy, but David and Jessica have a job to do, which means telling it like it is when it comes to Bob’s game play, as well as that of his fellow finalists, Susie and Sugar. Someone had to win this season, and it obviously wasn’t going to be strategy that carried the day. So what was it that landed Bob the million dollars? After a fresh Gabon rewatch a new look at David’s older articles and interviews along with other information, it’s time to take a new look at Why Bob Won.

Sophie went to play Survivor and instead found herself surrounded by those claiming to value honesty, loyalty, and integrity. She worked her way through quietly while being overshadowed on TV by Coach, who is quite the opposite. But you don’t need big TV moments to win. How did Sophie maneuver in her path to victory? What did Coach and Albert fail to do correctly? Should Cochran have gone to rocks? And why were Coach, Albert, and Ozzy calling each other names in post-game press? After David and Jessica did a fresh South Pacific rewatch and David reviewed his older articles and interviews, it’s time to take a new look at Why Sophie Won.

Survivor’s Karishma Patel joins David and Jessica to discuss Kaysar’s game and eviction. Last week we found that there were things Janelle could’ve done that might have changed the outcome, and that’s true again this week for Kaysar. He had seven more days to try to change his situation and no longer had Janelle drawing as much attention to the two of them. What did he do with that extra time and space? What should he have done differently? It’s time to figure out Why Kaysar Lost.

David and Jessica have one final journey through time, going back to the first Survivor winner, Richard Hatch. Without him, it’s quite possible that Survivor would have been very different. But in his season, he was arrogant. He was in your face, especially when he was walking around naked at camp. Somehow those negative qualities didn’t stop him from winning and setting out the roadmap for future players. What did he do so right that it overshadowed the negatives? How was he so much better than everyone else on this initial season? It’s time to once again figure out Why Richard Won.
