In October of 1994 in Union, South Carolina, young mother Susan smith called the police to report that she had been carjacked and her two young sons, 3 year old Michael and 14 month old Alexander were still in the car. After making several pleas to the carjacker to return her sons to her and a nationwide search for her car and children, they were located a week and a half later in the car in the local lake.
