He had traveled hard for three hundred miles to find the man who had killed his brother and that afternoon he ended up in Pleasant Valley. The town was quiet but then he saw them, maybe 60 or 70 standing in a circle gathered around two men, two men who were digging. He saw the looks on the faces of the people standing there and it was a look he had seen before. Not a good look, it was the look some people had had two years before in Abilene when they discovered his brother’s body.
