In this episode of Sustain the Range, I sit down with Fiona, Ranch Manager at Red Wing Ranch, and we get into everything from custom grazing to sell-buy marketing — and what it actually looks like to run a flexible, numbers-driven ranch in today’s cattle market.
We talk about custom grazing as a low-cost entry point into the cattle industry, what it means to truly know your cost of production, and how being nimble — even pivoting mid-season — has allowed their operation to stay profitable. We also dive into sell-buy marketing, ranching mindset, community, and the importance of not being afraid to do things differently than your neighbors.
More than anything, this conversation is about possibility — for people who didn’t grow up in ranching, for those wanting to start something of their own, and for anyone who believes there’s space for them in this industry if they’re willing to do the work.
It’s practical, encouraging, and full of the kind of honest ranch talk I love sharing here. Thanks for tuning in!

Today’s episode is a really special one. I’m sitting down with Syd Condrashoff of Honor Equine, and our conversation is all about horses, healing, and honestly, the magic that happens when we truly listen—to them and to ourselves.
Syd is an Equus Coach, Intuitive Medicine Practitioner, Master Facilitator, Horse Trainer and Intuitive Horse listener, and her work lives at the intersection of horsemanship, healing, and soul-level connection. We talk about how horses help us come back to ourselves, reconnect with our purpose, and move through life with more awareness and honesty.
Syd also shares her personal journey into this work, including what it’s been like to build a ranch and barn from the ground up. This conversation feels grounding, expansive, and deeply heartfelt, and I’m so excited to share it with you!
Check out Syd's work on her Instagram and if you're in the Belgrade area, make sure to check out Springhill Community Ranch where she and her husband run their business and manage the ranch!

Buddy Pakuer has been a cowboy his whole life — the kind of hand who’s seen it all, from long days on the range to the lessons only a saddle and cattle can teach. I first met Buddy while working on a ranch together last year, and he’s become a good friend ever since and I have learned so much from him.
In this episode, we talk about the highs and lows of ranching, horsemanship, and stockmanship, dive into cattle markets, and share insights on building a sustainable herd. Buddy also tells stories from his years working ranches across the West — the kind that remind you why this life is worth living. Thanks for tuning in!

First off, I recorded this one off the cuff and in my car and it is a little fuzzy, so I do apologize for the audio not being the best! But everything can't always be perfect, right?!
I wanted to release this anyway because I wanted to say hi, wish you all a Merry Christmas, and thank you for listening! I talk about some life updates, making some hard decisions, what the holidays are all about, if you're a person of faith, and why it's important to listen to those nudges from God. I talk about whether or not the holidays are a happy time or if you're like me, who finds it a time of good but also some sadness too- and if you aren't feeling super festive this season, it is ok!
I appreciate each person who listens to these episodes and want you to know how much it means to me! Thank you- see you in 2025!
