This is the final episode for the first season of Sustainability Circle. Navreet and Teghan get to talk to British Columbia’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change, George Heyman. They discuss how his career led him to the influential position he now holds today. As well, he explains how young people have inspired him throughout his career as an environmental leader.

Teghan and Navreet have the opportunity to talk to Wade Grant, a nominee for Vancouver city councillor as part of the Non-Partisan Association and former band councillor of the Musqueam Nation. They discuss how sustainability ties into his personal life as a member currently residing on the Musqueam reserve. Conversations about Indigenous politics come up and how the recent process of reconciliation interlinks itself to existing policies and practices throughout the province and the city of Vancouver.

On this week’s episode of The Sustainability Circle, we have Rhiannon Moore joining us on the conversation on microplastics in the ocean. Rhiannon is a masters student at SFU and a researcher with Oceanwise. She has one question in mind — how are microplastics affecting the food web for belugas in the Arctic. We talk about her thesis, the way of life in the Arctic, Indigenous perspectives, climate change and the interconnectivity of different systems.

Teghan and Navreet dive into the topic of zero waste living and ways that lifestyle can be achieved. They talk to Linh Truong, the co-founder of Soap Dispensary & Kitchen Staples. She shares her experiences as a business owner trying to thrive as sustainably as possible, with a main focus on minimal waste.
