In the final 10 lessons of Phase 1, youll be speaking and understanding at an intermediate level. In this phase, more directions are given in the target language, which moves your learning to a whole new plane. Lessons include shopping, visiting friends, going to a restaurant, plans for the evening, car trips, and talking about family. Youll be able to speak comfortably about things that happened in the past and make plans for the future.

Reading Lessons begin in Unit 11 and provide you with an introduction to reading Swahili. These lessons are designed to teach you to sound out words with correct pronunciation and accent. In addition, combined Reading Lessons from all the units are included at the end. A Reading Booklet to be used with the audio lessons is also included in PDF format.

Great for learning Authentic Swahili

Where does Swahili Phase 1, Units 1-30 rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

Currently on Lesson 10 (of 30). Living in East Africa has given me ample opportunity to utilize the lessons learned. Locals often complement me on my accurate pronunciation (thanks to Pimsleur). Unfortunately, they could only complement me the words and phrases I have already learned. Now to finish the course and see how well I can function in the language.
