· Her name was Regina Omoh-Jowo Parper, Nee Williams. She was born in Sierra-Leone, West Africa in the 1920’s. She was a teacher, a wife, a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, a woman who touched so many lives and whose presence is still felt today, even though she passed away in 2007. Oh, and she was also my grandmother.
· Welcome to the Sweet Mother podcast. My name is Sohkor Solanke, and in this episode, I had the privilege of speaking to my grandmother’s eldest surviving daughter- my aunt, Mrs. Emelia Gabbidon, aka, Aunty Ayo. Yes, the same aunty Ayo you heard about if you listened to the first episode of this podcast all about my late mother- Evelyn Songu-Mbriwa. I also had the opportunity to speak to her youngest daughter- Mrs. Veronica Ame- a book-end interview, if you will.
· If you enjoy these episodes, please subscribe to the podcast and consider leaving a review on whichever platform you are listening. This helps us get these stories out to as many people as possible.
· The rumble of thunder you hear in the background is actually the sound of Tampa Bay during the height of hurricane season, but I like to think it is my grandmother giving her vote of approval as we tell the story of her life and legacy.
