This week we interview Mike Radford, Head Age Group Coach of the Athens Bulldog Swim Club (ABSC) in Athens, GA. Over the past few years, the club has continued to innovate and change their operation for the benefit of swimmers and coaches. This has led to a multiple pool club team that continues to grow by using a few principles that seem simple, but changed the landscape of their team. We have been looking forward to talk with Mike for a few months and the interview doesn’t disappoint.

Well, we got hit hard by Hurricane Helene! This resulted in a few weeks off from the podcast. So, this week, we are talking about this experience and what it means for coaches, athletes and parents who want to continue to train, but are up against a natural disaster or other major, community obstacles. Do we go to another location? What is half your team is affected and the other half is not? How do you negotiate when and what is appropriate after major changes that were outside your control.
We discuss all these topics and more in this week’s podcast!

This week, we talk about the proper mindset for coaches, athletes and parents. Yes, each group needs to go into a practice or meet knowing what to expect from themselves and others. This means being prepared, knowing what to do and what not to do on the deck and in the stands. This is a candid discussion that will remind all of us why it’s important to have the right mindset to increase performance.
