The Wallaceburg Adult Activity Centre is working to make its facility more accessible through a community fundraiser supporting the installation of an elevator.

A 50-50 raffle is underway, with tickets available until 4 p.m. on October 4. Proceeds will go directly toward the project. Details on the raffle are available online at rafflebox.ca.

To provide further information on costs, logistics, and to address questions, the centre will host a townhall meeting on Wednesday, October 22, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Wallaceburg Adult Activity Centre, 205 James Street.

The centre is also preparing for its annual Older Adults Health and Wellness Fair, scheduled for October 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Oaks Retirement Village, 80 McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg. The fair will feature presentations, health screenings, and a variety of information booths.

Victoria Stewart, manager of the Wallaceburg Adult Activity Centre, said the initiatives reflect the organization’s commitment to inclusivity and community well-being. She noted the elevator project is a key step in ensuring the space is welcoming and supportive for all.

Wallaceburg is gearing up for a day of music, games, community spirit and heartfelt support as “Wallaceburg Rocks for Cora Balics” on October 11 at the Moose Lodge.

The event promises a full day of entertainment and activities, all in support of a cause close to the community’s heart.

From 12 p.m. until 5 p.m., attendees can enjoy a variety of indoor attractions including vendors, games, a silent auction and the Moose kitchen.

Most daytime activities are free to attend, making it an accessible outing for families and community members of all ages.

As the sun sets, the festivities move outdoors starting at 6 p.m., the outdoor portion of the event will feature live music, vendors and adult games, and require a paid ticket.

Musical performances will headline the evening, beginning with special guest Shelly Rastin from 6 to 8 p.m., followed by Big Shiny Toons from 8:30 to 11 p.m.

Concert tickets are available for $15 and can be purchased in advance online or at the Moose Lodge.

Susannah vm Salisbury of Wallaceburg has published her first book, “Battles of Existence: A Book of Poetry And Prose,” which was released on July 14, 2025.

At just 18 years old, Salisbury has crafted a poetic exploration of humanity and nature, weaving together themes that span from the creation of Earth to the complexities of modern society and the enduring love people share.

In a recent interview, Salisbury shared insights into the five-year journey behind the book.

She described the work as a reflection on the feral beauty of the world and the emotional landscapes that shape human experience.

The collection blends poetry and prose to examine the tension between civilization and wilderness, and the ways in which people connect with each other and the planet.

The 20th annual O’Neil Mini Farm Show will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 6477 Stuart Line in Wallaceburg.

Organizers say the event will showcase a wide range of vehicles, including race cars, vintage automobiles, trucks, fire trucks and tractors.
