According to estimates, between 1 and 2 million Syrians are currently living in Lebanon. The country is often portrayed as a model host country for Syrian civil war refugees. But what exactly does that mean? We discuss and report on our own experiences in the Lebanese capital Beirut – through multinational shared flats, work acquaintances and friends. Under what conditions do Syrian refugees live in Beirut? What challenges do they face in the midst of everyday life in a shared flat? What is the gender dimension? How does Lebanese society deal with this? What difficulties and enrichments arise from Syrian-Lebanese contact? 
We address all these questions in our pilot episode of the Middle Eastcast.
