This Australian GP was a wild weekend which saw Max & his RB retire from a race with Mechanical issues for the first time in 2 years ! This gave a great opportunity for Ferrari and specifically Carlos Sainz who had a brilliant weekend scoring a victory just 9 days after having surgery. It also boosted the team to a 1-2 finish for the first time since 2022. Mercedes in contrast had an absolutely miserable weekend with Lewis having a really rare engine failure, and Russell experiencing a crash on the last lap caused by Alonso brake testing him. Alonso would later be found guilty by the stewards and given a penalty that dropped him to 8th position. But the main story of the weekend was Ferrari stand in rookie Oliver Bearman who on sudden notice with Carlos Sainz surgery came in to replace him in Jeddah.
