Episode 5 features the amazing, Beth Fisher of B&C Magazine and Nick Russell of TAB. Lending. In this episode, we are also proud to present Jon Salisbury of Ortus Secured Finance.

Jon is the Managing Director of Ortus Secured Finance. Ortus, are a commercial lender founded in 2013. They provide loans from £100k to £25 million with interest rates from 7.8% p.a and terms of up to 3 years. Ortus has also won numerous awards for service excellence and product innovation, including 3 B&C awards.

Jon Salisbury is a lending specialist and associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland. He is a graduate of the University of Southampton, he has trained at Bank of Scotland and he has also worked as a private banker at Singer & Friedlander. In addition, Jon is a member of the Credit Committee and Executive Committee.

Nick and Beth both speak to Jon about; his firm Ortus Secured Finance, what they provide, their USP and also his past experience in banking. They also speak about, if people in the industry really need qualifications in this day and age to be successful and huge shifts/trends in the market expected to occur next year.

"I think next year is going to be tumultuous. Its a divided country/society at the moment and we don't know how the rest of the world will react to this."

Michael is the Owner of the brokerage; The Property Finance Guy, which he set up at the end of 2018 and also The Property Finance Academy. On top of this, Michael runs his own podcast; The Property Finance Podcast. He is a Commercial Finance Broker specialising in Development Finance, Bridging Loans and Commercial Mortgages.

"I set up The Property Finance Guy in order to give Developers and Investors access to a trustworthy and reliable Broker. I am passionate about creating a Brokerage that can raise hundreds of millions of pounds for Developers and Investors, whilst educating them on the best and cheapest ways to finance their deals."

Duncan and Beth both speak to Michael about; words of wisdom and advice for young people wanting to get into the industry and also for young people wanting to start a business in general, highlighting the risks and benefits of taking the leap. Michael speaks about getting new business for his company from Social Media including Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and TikTok and less so from LinkedIn.

The trio also discuss, what is wrong with the property market. "There are two things wrong with property investment. One is the barriers to entry as in, how much money you need to buy a property. The other is liquidity as in, I need my money back and I can't get it."

Adrian currently works on various business, banking and finance projects and provides a range of advice and services including acting as an expert witness. He is a Director of Arrow Professional Services Limited, NCI Resources Group and Edinburgh Mortgage Corp and is also a retained consultant to Shakespeare Martineau, Barton Bridging, Hudson Keys, Quantum (chartered valuers) and other financial services clients.

His experience is vast and bold. He has also held the positions of Chief Executive Officer of the Association of Short Term Lenders and Chairman of The Capital Group.

Duncan and Nick both speak to Peter about; expansion into the bridging industry, especially allowing for international opportunities and lending now, in comparison to 10 years back, when people didn't lend unless they knew the person/company. The trio also discuss, young people in the Bridging industry and how they must focus on making the right decision in terms of going to the right company that suits them.

"Technology is fantastic. Because of technology, all sorts of opportunities to do business more cost-effectively and easily, arise. Equally, we mustn't lose the common touch. I will not have the telephones at my companies answered by a machine."
