  • Episode 17: Theology Student Round Table
Theology is not a philosophical pursuit of abstract speculations about God. It is in fact the examination of that which God has revealed to us. As faithful students of the Word of God, we are, by necessity, students of theology. The two are not at odds with each other; rather they serve to complement one ... • Episode 16: Addiction (Part 2)
If we allow the Bible to reveal the unseen spiritual realities behind addictions, we suddenly realise that addictions are more than self-destructive behaviours. They are violations of God’s laws: his laws that call us to avoid drunkenness and immoderate self-indulgence (Romans 13:13), his law that calls us to love others (1 John 4:7), and his ... • Episode 14: Faith and Repentance
Repentance and faith infallibly and inseparably flow from regeneration. True repentance takes place when God enables a heart to turn away from sin. This does not mean believers will not still struggle with sin, but rather they are aware of their sin and they feel sorrow and conviction before God. Faith is more than intellectual ... • Episode 13: Apologetics
Christian apologetics is the science of giving a defence of the Christian faith. There are many sceptics who doubt the existence of God and/or attack belief in the God of the Bible. There are many critics who attack the inspiration and inerrancy of the Bible. There are many false teachers who promote false doctrines and ... Read more Episode 13: Apologetics

  • Episode 12: Trinitarianism
It is not easy to find a name that will suitably express so great an excellence, unless it is better to speak in this way: the Trinity, one God, of whom are all things, through whom are all things, in whom are all things. Thus the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and ... Read more Episode 12: Trinitarianism

  • Episode 11: The Atonement
It would not have been right for the restoration of human nature to be left undone, and it could not have been done unless man paid what was owing to God for sin. But the debt was so great that, while man alone owed it, God alone could pay it, so that the same person ... Read more Episode 11: The Atonement

  • Episode 10: How to Study the Bible
Many people believe that theological study holds little value. They say, “I don’t need theology; I just need to know Jesus.” Yet theology is unavoidable for every Christian. It is our attempt to understand the truth that God has revealed to us—something every Christian does. So it is not a question of whether we are going to engage in theology; it is a question of whether our theology is sound or unsound. It is important to study and learn because God has taken great pains to reveal himself to his people. He gave us a book, one that is not meant to sit on a shelf pressing dried flowers, but to be read, searched, digested, studied, and chiefly to be understood.

  • Episode 9: Biblical Discipleship
The true convert is a disciple, a person who has accepted and submitted himself to Jesus Christ, whatever that may mean or demand. The truly converted person is filled with the Holy Spirit and given a new nature that yearns to obey and worship the Lord who has saved him. Even when he is disobedient, he knows he is living against the grain of his new nature, which is to honour and please the Lord. He loves righteousness and hates sin, including his own.

  • Episode 8: Christ-Centred Preaching
Christ-centred preaching is the responsibility of every preacher. The preacher is responsible, before God, to preach Jesus Christ, and him crucified. Spurgeon said it well: “The best sermons are the sermons which are most full of Christ. A sermon without Christ it is an awful, a horrible thing; it is an empty well; it is a cloud without rain; it is a tree twice dead, plucked by the roots.  It is an abominable thing to give men stones for bread, and scorpions for eggs, and yet they do so who preach not Jesus. A sermon without Christ! As well talk of a loaf of bread without any flour in it. How can it feed the soul? Men die and perish because Christ is not there, and yet his glorious gospel is the easiest thing to preach, and the sweetest thing to preach; there is most variety in it, there is more attractiveness in it than in all the world besides!”
