Influenced by soul and jazz cats Barry White (rip), Lionel Hampton, Miles Davis, Prince of the 80’s & 90’s as well as HIPHOP acts Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, KRS-One, JB was able to hone his skills in production and emceeing. This self taught piano player Now hails from Albany, NY. JB has been taking music seriously for 10 yrs and has performed with many major and minor signed acts including Big Pun (rip), Lost Boyz, Brand Nubian, The Lox, Beatnuts, Onyx, Common, Mr. Cheeks, Amerie, Nine (remember him?), and many more..... JB started out in 1993 being involved in a group called Mad Flowa’s,then in 1996 the group went their separate ways to pursue solo endeavors. Since then JB has become a complete artist by taking guitar lessons and producing music for many of the capitol districts HIPHOP artists..... In 1997 JB wrote, produced, recorded and pressed his solo debut 7 song EP Allegory which sold an impressive 2,200 units from October ‘97 to April ’98. Then after a small break from the biz, JB accompanied by Tunnel Rat Sev Statik recorded an EP in late ’98 and formed a group called Illumination which set the stage for the follow-up solo LP entitled Total Karnage which had 19 songs and a skit. Released in 1999 and after selling close to 5,000 units JB went on a small tour of the surrounding states. Recently releasing independently an LP entitled Seize The Moment.

Katie Linn is the Youth and Programs Coordinator at the National Alliance on Mental Illness of New York City-Metro. She coordinates and supervises many of the peer programs at NAMI, including In Our Own Voice and Six Weeks to Wellness.  She also leads a monthly meeting that provides guidance, support, and resources to the youth advocates working in the nine Family Resource Centers throughout New York City .  In the fall, she is hoping to start a youth support group. She is a recent graduate of Hunter College School of Social Work, where she received her Masters of Social Work with a focus on community organizing and mental health.

Cash.  "Born in 1953, raised between Harlem and The Bronx, I stand on the shoulders of many who have helped me with my goals and education. The seeds for my photographic life were planted in 1971, by my English teacher, Mrs. Melton at Laurinburg Institute in Laurinburg, North Carolina; as we studied the poets and writers of the Harlem Renaissance.

Mentors like: Edmond Sella, Miles Everett and photo-journalism instructor, Joseph Dojcsak at Los Angeles City College in California from (1973-79), along with support from my mother Mrs. Jane U. Cash, gave me the support and a great foundation for working anywhere in the world; especially Lagos, Nigeria from (1979-84) where I covered stories and events for newspapers, magazines, embassies-becoming a stringer for The Associated Press in 1982.

I’m currently working on a coffee-table book, highlighting my compelling images; discussing my journeys and points of view concerning the African Diaspora. I was recently included in the coffee table book, “100 New York Photographers,” edited by Cynthia Maris Dantzic.

On today's show, Lady Charmaine Day and Noelina Arcinegas will discuss the support and solutions people can get from NAMI to help with their road to recovery from mental illness. Noelina Arciniegas is Associate Program Director at the National Alliance on Mental Illness, NYC Metro chapter since September 2009.  Noelina coordinates outreach and public educational events at NAMI, as well as coordinating a Learning Collaborative with staff from 9 family support centers in NYC funded through the NYC DOHMH. Noelina has been active in promoting NAMI in the community through presentations to doctors and consumers, in addition to co-presenting with consumers through “In Our Own Voice” presentations at mental health programs and facilities. She holds two masters in Public Health and Social Work.
