  • SPECIAL EPISODE: Making Great Action Movies with Christian Gudegast
Adam had the opportunity to sit down with the writer and director of Den of Thieves, Christian Gudegast. He explains just how difficult it is to make a realistic action movie in Hollywood and the extra steps he takes to ensure things are done correctly. They talk gunfights, tactics, special effects and everything in between. Enjoy this special episode as we take a dive into how movies are made.
    EPISODE PAGE: https://thebreakdown.ca/020
Christian was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from the UCLA Film School in 1992, top of his class. His thesis film, Shadow Box, won the award for Best Student Film that same year. He has since written for major movie productions, including Soldier of Fortune, A Man Apart, and London Has Fallen.
In 2018, he made his directorial debut with the film, Den of Thieves, starring Gerard Butler and Pablo Schrieber. It centers around an elite unit of the LA County Sheriff's Dept. and the state's most successful bank robbery crew planning a seemingly impossible heist on the Federal Reserve Bank.
From the gunplay and tactics to the undercover roles depicted by the actors in the film, this sits as one of the most realistic and true to life action films created. The follow-up to this film, Den of Thieves 2, is in pre-production and will begin shooting early 2020.

  • Freeze! - Martial Arts and Human Reactions with Randy King
Adam and Randy take a deep look at martial arts training and discuss the overlap between civilian martial arts programs and agency-based DT training systems. Starting from the beginning, Randy explains how he developed his FREEZE model for training and how it is relevant to anyone in a life or death encounter.
    EPISODE PAGE: https://thebreakdown.ca/016
Randy King is an accomplished, impactful, internationally acclaimed mentor, public speaker, and author. He has a hunger to demystify the psychology of violence through evidence-based research. He is the host of the Randy King Live podcast which is a debate-style program centered around martial arts and defensive tactics systems.
A life-long martial artist, Randy embraced traditional training, having earned 2 black belts in different disciplines, including a 4th-degree in Modern Arnis.  In 2002, Randy’s perspective and confidence were shattered when he survived a stabbing while attempting to deescalate a violent situation while he was employed at an Edmonton club as Head of Security.  Randy realized that the old ways did not serve as a functional platform for self-defence and he became determined to redefine the self-defence industry.
His progressive and innovative methods give people a realistic, easy to digest set of tools to help identify conflict, the communication around conflict, and if need be, employ physical techniques to escape and evade an attack.

  • PTSD Recovery and Flipping Tires with Terrance Kosikar
What is the beginning of Post Traumatic Stress? Where does it start?
For Terrance, it was at 5 years old when his father burned down his home with his family inside. Fast forward to 2010, he's a Fire Rescue Paramedic working at the Vancouver Winter Olympics and was called to respond to a fatal accident with a luge athlete on opening day.
This episode is all about his story, where he came from, what led him into becoming a First Responder, his battle with PTSD and suicide, and his amazing and inspiring story of recovery and healing.
    EPISODE PAGE: https://thebreakdown.ca/012
Terrance Kosikar is a former Fireman/Paramedic for Whistler Fire Rescue in British Columbia. He is also a motivational speaker, and traveling the world to bring more education, knowledge and a better understanding around Post Traumatic Stress and most importantly shares the natural tools we can all use to help manage our mental, emotional, behavioral health challenges.
He was a First Responder to a fatal accident during an event on the opening day of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. Although well trained in a myriad of life-saving techniques, he was not prepared to deal with the emotional impact sustained when those techniques were not enough. As a result of the fatality, Terrance developed PTSD that launched him into a very costly downward spiral. During several years of severe depression, attempted suicide, and substance abuse, he lost his family, career, and nearly his life. Pushed to his breaking point, Terrance found salvation within. Escaping to the backcountry, he had found peace and purpose in mother nature’s beauty and simplicity. He now runs a Wilderness Therapy Program (Camp My Way) for combat veterans, first responders and their families who have been affected by Post Traumatic Stress ( PTSD/OSI).
